I liked Split a lot. Anya Taylor Joy and James McAvoy are great

Unbreakable is fucking incredible, that one-take choke scene has stayed with me since I was young

The Faculty needs to be on Scream Factory! I unfortunately haven't loved any of their announcements in a while. I need something cool soon!

@irthesteve Let me know if I should delete this or not, but

Just googling around apparently Shout Factory is planning a Robert Rodriguez set called "Veinte" which means we should be getting FDTD and maybe even The Faculty! Or it could be just the Mariachi trilogy. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R041GBQ/?tag=absolutepunk-20
    EDIT:
Ah fuck wait someone else said it isn't happening

  10. Two more movies I looked at over and over at the video rental place as a kid that I can finally check off the list. I know things get a little silly after that, but I thought I heard pretty solid things from fans re: Curse and Cult of Chucky.
Hartnett is so underrated. Honestly love 30 Days of Night

I’ve always thought Child’s Play was a shockingly good series overall. So many genre switches but no real abominations after so many outings, and keeping Brad Dourif forever is basically a miracle.

I forgot about 30 Days of Night. Melissa George is one of my favorites.

I’ve said it in this thread before but Brad Dourif’s voice acting is underrated. But I had a hard time getting into the late 90s reboot, even if it went meta.

Brad Dourif is underrated, period. And super nice and soft spoken in person.

I hesitate to use the word love, but I think the only Child’s Play I didn’t like much at all was 3. The later ones went SO weird and I associate watching them with a really good friend which helps my memory of them. Haven’t rewatched any other than the first recently though. The brand new ones were good.

I still love three, prefer it over two. The best part of two is the end in the toy factory

I remember 3 feeling like something from another series entirely, but it’s been years since I’ve seen it.

I’m in the minority on it, but I can’t stand Child’s Play. The doll just makes me laugh every time. Some of the later ones were better at being self aware and had some great moments. I really like Brad Dourif in everything else though.

The newest Chucky, I think its Curse Of? That one shocked me cause it was honestly incredible. Great kills, good characters, and a genuine sense of dread and unsettlement with multiple Chuckys running around

With series like Madoka, it's a bit easier to pinpoint the turning... uh, point, like, you should really give it a chance and not stop watching before such and such episode. With Penny Dreadful, I can't remember the first time where I was like, wow this is great, but I don't think it was the pilot. Quick look into episode summaries on wiki, I'd say maybe the third episode is where things kind of start rolling, although I'm a bit more certain that I was more emotionally invested by the end of episode 5.

sidenote: Eva Green kind of overacts in this role, but it's kind of the point. You kind of get used to it after a while, and in some particular episodes, she's just incredible.

Oh, and Billie Piper doesn't start to shine until the second season. But now I feel like I'm overselling it. It's just, this is one of the few things in the horror genre that I absolutely adore, so I want everyone to at least give it a fair shot.
