Ah, thanks for clearing that up.
I really need to become a supporter again. I feel like I'm missing out on some good conversations/insider details.
I hadn't thought of that, but you might be onto something.

@Jason Tate does this mean that maybe the version of the record you have may not be what they end up going with? Maybe they didn't like rattis mix and decided to just get sapone to do it? Thoughts?

I got mine online when they turned it into an AIDS benefit...so, like a 8 or 9 months ago. I haven't check the tag, but it may be MD. It's just not nearly as soft as the new ones.

I don't know what he's saying exactly but there is no way I hear "I am free" at all.

@NationalPhenomenon Depending on when your Supporter stuff expired, you probably haven't missed much since I Am A Nightmare week.

Dude. That is fucking awesome. I HAVE to know if that's just an extended outro, or they really were just teasing a new track.

It's nobody's battle but your own. Prestigious

To add to your post it was their 4th show in a row with no days off in between so yeah it's understandable that they were a little less energetic. It was cool to hear Brothers live, I really wish they would introduce more of the demos in their set now that they have been "officially" released. I'm not the type to nitpick at a band's set but it's a bummer that they didn't play Mene on night 2. That song translated SO WELL LIVE.

Edit: Also wished they played Sink since they played it in the first half of the canadian tour.

@Kevin360 I took advantage of the one-month trial shortly after signing up for Chorus, so maybe late April? Seems like there has been more discussion in those threads since that time. Just need to get my PayPal account squared away and sign back up.

Sapone produced I Am A Nightmare he just didn't do the mixing from what I understand. Based off the Instagram picture it's looking like maybe someone else is actually going to mix it.

Haha are mixing and producing the same thing? I thought they might be different but part of the same thing. Cause why would Sapone be posting pictures of being in the studio and promoting I Am A Nightmare if that Ratti guy did the entire thing? Then start posting pictures about another sound engineer who does mixing?

Oh, I'm just making a joke about them starting over from what Jason has lol. That's my reaction to scrapping those sessions.

Haha oh I got ya! Yeah I dunno maybe they aren't scrapping it just having it remixed cause they didn't like the way it turned out but knew they had to do something before the tour? Who knows haha

I got my tickets for the second show I'm going to. for this show you didn't actually know where your seats were until getting your tickets. That's a strange thing to me since I've never done that but I'm SUPER pleased with where my seats are so I'm not complaining :)

Producing/engineering is the recording of he parts.

Mixing is the eqing, effects, levels, panning, that takes place after recording.

I speculate ratti mixed the record, and maybe they aren't happy with how it came out so they tossed it back to sapone to mix it. Sapone produced/engineered the record

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

I posted this in the Supporter side too, but think I could get some broader opinions on everything over here too.

(On Sapone's Instagram post) Looks like the vocals are tracked in with the lyrics to tag them (the two on the far right). One being the main vocal track, and the other I can guess is a second layer of (most likely) Jesse screams. Of what I'm supposing are the lyrics, I'm feeling it's probably the next single. Which I'm guessing we're getting sometime in the next few weeks.

On that note, we've had almost a month with I Am A Nightmare. Have opinions changed, stayed the same? I'm still not in love with the mix, and have went back and forth with enthusiasm and lack thereof for the song as a whole. But dammit, I can't deny that I randomly feel the urge to belt out, "I AM A NIGHTMARE AND YOU ARE A MIRACLE (you're coming out of the ground, it's kinda freaking me out)."

As someone who has been more prone to judge a song lyrically before the instrumental work, I'm really digging the lyrical themes.I especially love how the chorus ties in with the final verse about the second thief (Gestas, Impenitent Thief), and how the focus of the song could be speaking to Jesse's wife, fans of the band, his band mates, or even to Jesus (which makes the "I've been so goddamn mean to you" line more interesting).

I know I'm wearing out the song, and I've been rather distracted by Thrice as of late, but something keeps pulling me back to Brand New (this isn't a brand new occurrence) as it always does, they're my favorite band for a reason. I can go months without listening to them, and then jump back in and instantly remember why I value their work so highly.

I am a Nightmare has grown on me. It works really well for what it is, it's super accessible and easy to listen to. That being said, I still hope the whole record doesn't sound like this song, if this is a one off I think I could enjoy it on a record that has songs that cover multiple styles. If the whole record is driven "killers esq" rock. Idk I wouldn't enjoy that.. but maybe I would just bc Jesse is singing it. Time will tell

I still don't like I am a Nightmare. I'm hoping it's a song I can enjoy more in the context of an album, otherwise I already have one song I'm gonna skip.

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

Good point on it being night 4/4, I still feel like from night to night in Montreal there was a serious dropoff. The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to think that it had to due with the weak attendance and crowd. Mene was great on night one so I didn't mind them switching things up. Brothers was weird, a lot of the crowd had no idea what the song was while a handful of people were belting it out. I know the demos will never get a real push from the band so it's cool to have as a "deep cut" type song for die-hard fans.

I enjoyed the song when it came out and still do. I'm taking it for what it is. It didn't translate well live as much as I had expected and definitely will never rank among my favorite Brand New songs.

I can't stand Brothers, personally. Was really happy they didn't play it the first night in Montreal.

Of all the demos, it's certainly not one of my favorites. It was cool hearing it randomly at the Forest Hills show with my fiance and her brothers, but I haven't been blown away by it at any other occasion.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I absolutely love brothers. I think I'm just a sucker for their slow songs, and it's lyrics are really poignant to me. Best on the demo with Nobody Moves as a close second, IMO.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

A few years ago, Jesse did a friends and family breast cancer benefit at a bar on Long Island and played a few songs with one of his brothers (Cody, I believe?). His introduction to "Brothers" was extremely heartfelt and definitely added a layer of admiration to that song for me.

I literally had my beer on the stage this entire show. What a great time.
