This is the strongest foreign language Oscar field in years. Roma, Cold War, Burning, Shoplifters...fuck!

 

Roma could probably technically win best picture and best foreign picture, not sure it's ever happened The Artist only won Best Picture and Crouching Tiger and Life Is Beautiful only won best foreign

 

I want to watch Shoplifters so bad but can't find it anywhere.

Pitchfork seems to have some weird vendetta against Vox Lux that I don’t understand.

 

Disagree. Yeah not a whole lot of “tent pole” shows a la GoT, BB, MM etc.

Though some amazing shows still airing: Atlanta, Barry, Better Call Saul, Black Mirror etc

 

Don’t agree with much of that at all. Maybe it’s just thst posting here or having lots of huge TV fan friends has biased me, but I feel like we have just as much fun ranting about and quoting and theorizing about shows as we always have.

Also in what world was The Wire a tentpole show, and how do I get there??
