Lorde is claiming they stole the set design from her. Not surprising considering Trent Reznor of NIN also said earlier this year that Kanye and co. had “blatantly ripped off” their stage production too.

 

I mean, it's not a secret that the set design is identical to what Lorde did at Coachella and then her headlining tour. She 100% is correct here.

 

I agree with her honestly. Last night when I turned on the stream it was the first thing that came to mind. And Kanye definitely pays attention to what she’s doing based on their weird friendship surrounding Yellow Flicker Beat and both of them experiencing synesthesia.

Interested to know if Es Devlin did the KSG one too since she does most of Kanye’s stuff and she did the melodrama box.

I mean if it’s the same set designer....seems odd for Lorde to be able to claim “theft”. Hard for someone to steal from themselves.

 

nothing's been confirmed about who designed the set, there are assumptions that it's Es Devlin because of the similarities, but that's only an assumption

 

We have no way of knowing obviously if Es Devlin chose to do something similar, but that’s only passable if we are completely ignoring the fact that Ye has been accused of this twice in the last decade already. Plus who is to say Ye didn’t see the design and go to Es Devlin and said “hey I want something like that”

The argument that Lorde doesn’t own the concept of a floating box is stupid because that’s completely ignoring the fact that the box is ridiculously similar.
