Yeah - I was pretty taken back by it... but at the same time pissed my PD didn't invite me into the meeting knowing my level of blink fandom.

I think mark even said at one point that it isn't the best track on the record but fans will like it

We talk too much / We talk in circles

And it was released after the creative and catchy arpeggio that defines "What's My Age Again?" Every guitar player has learned that arpeggio at some point. Matt doesn't write guitar parts like Tom so I'm not expecting too many creative or memorable riffs/leads on guitar (as far as California). Bass? Yes.

And BTD's "riff" is derivative of their own work. They've done that progression a thousand times.

But, I'm trying to remain positive. I just wish the hype for "Rabbit Hole" was tempered a bit. I was expecting something so much more.

As would the fans on reddit berating the band and Feldmann for whatever their stupid bullshit reasoning is. Like I mentioned yesterday (and you're on the same page as me), this is exactly the song they've described in interviews. I don't see what the fuss is about. I mean, it's a nice, catchy 2 1/2 minute pop-punk song. What the fuck else do people want from them? Have they only heard Untitled and Neighborhoods? Are they revolting b/c of some loyalty to Tom? Some blink fans, man... I swear.

Except for the fact that as soon as I heard the bridge I immediately thought of Goldfinger, currently listening to Goldfinger on Spotify and when I figure out the exact song I'll be sure to let you know!

"Dear head" sounds so awkward to me. Maybe because i'm hearing it as deer head?

I miss that one week where we all got along in this thread. Anyway, song is great but I'm hoping it's not a top 5 song on the album.

Said I'm okay, but I know how to lie.

I actually see quite a lot of people that really don't like it.

  12. Exactly, when I listen to Rabbit hole I can imagine Mark jumping around in the studio while recording it aha. And just by the way Marks sings it you can tell he's having a blast again.

I think they're talking about the way the band hyped it.

Did the band really "hype" it though? That's all in the mind of the fans.

I know it's just internet being internet, but I don't get the recent reddit revolt. Everyone was really vibing to all of their records pre-Neighborhoods (and even pre-Untitled) for the past month, then the tide turned after Rabbit Hole. Is it just new people that showed up to voice their criticism? I don't remember it being like this with Bored to Death though, which probably would have invited more mainstream attention. I hesitate to say that I care, and that's probably not the way to put it. I'm just fascinated by it. I'm more intrigued than I should be.

I've liked Bored to Death and Rabbit Hole. There's lots of energy in the tracks and the shared vocals are nice. After not getting a new Blink record for forever it's so nice to have so many new tracks coming.

Feldmann and the band have only talked about a few select songs. So, there isn't much to latch onto. Unfortunately, Rabbit Hole was on everyone's radar because it was one of three or four songs that they chose to speak about on Mark's podcast and a few interviews. So, the hype sort of developed. I don't think the source of it was truly Feldy and blink though. It was more about people escalating the hype because there was nothing else to really talk about for the past few weeks. Yes, they did say that fans would love it. But so what? They'd probably find all kinds of reasons fans would love any song they chose to talk about.

It's probably on many people's top-10, or top-5 even, list of "deep blink cuts," so no. I think you've got some company.

I'm with you, dude. Blink fandom is an entirely different beast than other fan bases. The main issue is their own problem: they build this idea in their head of what they think it will all sound like, and when it isn't exactly that, it automatically now sucks. I realize some fans are over their "fast" sound (and maybe some of that backlash really is fan loyalty to Tom or Jerry Finn, I don't honestly know), yet here they are, re-energized, re-focused and they're genuinely excited to be releasing this record.

Rabbit Hole was nowhere near blowing me away on first listen (the radio quality didn't help) but I have to say I love this song more and more every time I listen to it.

So far my favorite part of new blink is just how refreshed and energized they all are. That vibe really comes through in Rabbit Hole I feel.

This song is going to be so good live and singing-wise suits blink way more than Bored To Death does.

Yup. I find it interesting that you'd get downvoted weeks ago for even suggesting that Feldmann might make more of a pop record based on his past credits. Everyone defended the decision. I personally didn't feel strongly one way or another. I was just happy with the band seemingly in a good place on a number of levels. Anyway, now Feldmann is the consensus scapegoat it seems.

fuck we're still talking about goldfinger? lol

i guess it's got power chords and fast drums. Those are the two things in common i guess.

I really liked the verses/bridge of this song. The chorus sounds a little too fast for my old ass.
