The goodbye to Ian got me more than I expected. I still think it's a weird way to write him off the show, but it was good to see him with Mickey again.

Would personally be more interested in Ian and Mickey storyline in prison than most of the other stories at this point, especially frank and katy segal

 

I think Ian’s story was intentionally left as not completely closed, which is why it’s a weird way to write him off. I see almost no chance that they don’t have him come back for the final few episodes, and hopefully Mickey too.

 

who knew that all Ian had to do to summon Mickey was steal his hair style? such a good moment though

 

I definitely got a bit sad lol. Loved Courteney in this

 

There were tears at the goodbye, especially the part with Lip, for me.

Also, the next few episodes should be interesting with Fiona dealing with what happened and missing the goodbye.

I really enjoyed the last two episodes!

 

Like...they can visit him in prison? The goodbye was sad because it was the actors saying bye to him, but it seems weird that they're all acting like they'll never see him again.

I mean, yeah they can visit him and I don't know a ton about prison but I assume it is terrifying for him and still sad that he's going away for 2 years? Either way I was more sad than I thought I'd be during that scene, haha.

 

That's how I took it too, I would be a mess if one of my siblings was going to prison even if I knew I could technically see them from time to time.

 

But when Carl and Fiona went to prison I don't remember it being the same, remember when Carl was a criminal and not a future war criminal

 

I think part of it makes sense if you think about how Ian really wasn't in control of his actions when this happened, and also they are probably more worried about him being in prison than Carl or Fiona because of his mental illness. The family probably realized Carl really needed to go and Fiona they were probably pretty mad at her (although it's on all of them what happened). But I think it checks out that they'd feel a little more sad/concerned right now with Ian going.

 

One more thing: the Gallaghers are different now than they were years ago. They aren't necessarily angels, but for the most part they have moved out of their parents' shadow and are trying to be contributing members of society. Back then, family going in and out of prison was just kind of their norm, so I think part of it is supposed to show the growth of the family.

 

someone pointed out that the guy who came by to brief Ian on the prison drew three exaggerated circles to mark the safer area and it made the shape of Mickey Mouse’s head, and made some mention of Snickers? hope it was intentional

 

The Micky Mouse was definitely intentional, I think he even called that area “Disney world”

Last two episodes have been real good. I’m actually interested in most if not all of the storylines again. I’m also excited to have Fiona back home and I’m happy with how they took her down without making it impossible for her to bounce back (she still has her investment in the senior living building right?)

 

I really liked what they did with Debbie this episode, mentioning how she was pretty much in charge of Liam since she was 6 and having her be the one who's gonna take care of Fiona and realize something was up immediately
I know a lot of y'all hate her but I've always been able to keep in mind that being a Gallagher is hard enough especially because she's the one we've seen most acutely not have a childhood

 

Yeah I loved Debbie in this episode

 

I hated Debbie last season, but I've really come around this year. She's been a lot more interesting to watch and likable in my opinion. Her way of dealing with Ford was incredible, and peak Shameless.

 

Midseason breaks are so fucking lame, drives me insane that premium channels are going to start doing that shit
