I learned guitar by playing along to the first four Sum 41 albums. Dave was and is one of my favorite guitarists, even if I don't really listen to them that much anymore. I'm looking forward to seeing what he contributes to their new album. Also, on the subject of great guitar bands, I know they're not really "pop-punk," but A Wilhelm Scream SHREDS.

I still have my ticket stub from July 4th 2001 when I saw Alkaline Trio/New Found Glory/Blink. Talk about a pop punk heaven.

Emmaline and Underwater will always be 2 of my favourite choruses ever. I really need to listen to the new album of couple years back. I own it but life got busy and forgot

Back in the day I would go on huge Purevolume kicks. Just scrolling through and listening to a ton of bands with a particular genre tag. Found some great stuff from there.

Dave Baksh added metal guitar playing to a pop-punk band. There was always a tug-of-war between Dave and Deryck as far as how heavy the band should be. Their best record IMO Is Chuck and it's easily their most genre-bending record. Once Dave was fired, Deryck brought them back to a pretty basic sound that wasn't as creative, technical or interesting.

Fortunately for us, Dave is now back in the fold.

  13. They're just on another planet. They make Blink-182 riffs look like the child's play they are.

@Jason Tate sorry for liking all the stuff you posted on the last 10 or so pages. I think we basically have had the same exact musical evolution. From ska to screamo! LOL

Also, I saw Boston play last night at the venue I will be seeing Blink in a week from tomorrow and I am beyond pumped.

Jesus, revisiting all these old punk bands and then going back to Rabbit Hole really made it click for me. Absolutely love the song. Anxious to hear what everything else sounds like.

Riggggght, except for the fact that the bridge of rabbit hole, especially the vocal effects on Mark's voice sound exactly like numerous moments on the Goldfinger record "Open your Eyes"

I finally just heard the song. And I don't know if it's subconsciously. But I really could hear a lot of Goldfinger in it and I'm trying to really take my Feldmann hat off

I do dig the song. I like BTD I lot better upon first listen. But I've always liked blink less straight out punker songs.

That does ring a bell! Was that here in the states or in the UK?

  22. ... sounds like every vocal that's ever been compressed and autotuned. That's not even remotely a Goldfinger staple or enough to say it sounds like Goldfinger. A vocal effect? Really? Get out of here with that.

First song I heard from them was "Anchor End," and I've been hooked ever since. So technical without sounding cheesy. Also, is there a better intro than "The King is Dead"?
