I have to wonder if they paid some of these people already and are worried they can't recoup it. No one is ever going to give them anything close to that money to put it on somewhere else.

Dan's friend Dave is reporting that there are plans in place in case the show does not happen.

The whole thing is really bad for WWE from any angle. They're going to lose a fuck ton of money if they don't do the show. If they do the show, they're basically seen as pro enemy, and the amount of backlash to come from it will be massive. At this point, HBK and WWE have already told the fans he's in for another match, but he's definitely expecting that money. WWE is going to have to pay him. Brock is off to UFC soon and this could have been his write off. He may not be able to hold off until Survivor Series, so his entire story could be dropped, plus he's definitely expecting the money as well. Point being, there are people under contract for this show that are getting sweet deals from it that will probably still need to be paid, plus it fucks all of their stories. It'll be fun to watch play out if they don't go, but it'll probably be a dumpster fire. For the love of God WWE, just cancel the show. /rant

And I dont feel bad for them, because this is their fault. They were negotiating TV deals that were 3x their last deals...while its certainly nice to get a new market and get an easy $50mil/show...it was always obvious that not allowing women was going to be a problem. And considering Saudi Arabia has a LONG history of this shit, it was equally likely something like this would happen.

They had an incredibly easy path forward, solidifying the US market off their FOX deal. This Saudi deal is exactly the shit-show they deserve for chasing shit money

Yeah they sold their soul to the devil when they made that Saudi deal. We knew it was a very sketchy country for many years. I just hope they do the right thing. When Dems and pubs both agree on something you know it's fucking serious. I'll be shocked if they don't pull out though. Every hour they go without action makes em look worse and the news stories are gonna pile up.

I have never in my life seen 'pubs' used in that context

Putting this Crown Jewel shit aside, I'm currently watching the Osprey/Havok match from Chapter 75 and it's fucking great

Off to OTT 4 year anniversary. Walter v Ospreay will be great. Also can't wait to see LIJ v Flamita, Bandido, and Shane Strickland.

Why do I have a feeling that anyone that doesn’t go will be cast out of whatever they’re doing and be jobbing by January?

Because that's exactly what they've done to people in the past. When RVD didnt go to Iraq in 2006 for Tribute to the Troops, this was the WON report

There is now "tremendous heat" on Rob Van Dam for refusing to go on the annual Tribute to the Troops trip for the second time. Technically, because the WWE can't guarantee the safety of the performers in a war zone, and considering that they are independent contractors, they can't be forced to go. However, there is an unwritten rule in WWE that if you're ask to go, you go. His refusal to go on the trip explains RVD's lessened push in recent weeks.

I like to hope that it’s changed in the past 12 years, but Vince has probably holds grudges for longer these days.

I didn't expect a ring film of thumb tacks and light tubes at OTT X-(
