So after re-familiarizing myself with the discog, I want to reiterate: this album is awesome. I was following along with lyrics for the first time to pick out phrases I wasn't sure about. Genius has an annotation during this part of Queen of the Dark, and I know it's fan theory and just guessing, but it kind of makes sense:
Maybe things could be just like before
No more that I can say before the world awakes again
Is this everything you hoped for?

Really sounds like Claudio dealing with some of the backlash to TCBTS (before the world awakes again) and hoping that this album is more in the vein of what fans want.

Has anyone created a list of all the callbacks on this album? For some reason, I'm not picking many up even though people keep saying there are a bunch. Welcome home, goodbye/goodnight...that's about all I got. Granted I've only listened a few times so far.

after spending time with the record, i definitely wouldn't cut anything. every song has at least one incredible moment that makes it all worth it! if anything, i'd extend the outro to lucky stars and add some extra jam time to give this album an epic ending. although, after every song having these soaring choruses and epic bridges, it is kinda nice to have a chill relaxing song to end with.

There's really not a ton, and most of them are stretches. A lot of possible references to The Color Before the Sun.

Maybe it's alright and the world's not quite | what you believed | is now all upside down

What is this called? dual meaning?

the world's not quite what you believed
what you believed is now all upside down

Man, I know Coheed is all about self producing, but I really think Yip could get them to a totally new level. Kind of like what he has done to MWY.

I dunno man. He's done great work recently. The new MWY, PBTT, Menzingers, Circa, Code Orange, Turnstile, etc. I know Yip is a big collaborator with bands he works with though, and that doesn't seem to be Coheed's style.

I like Yip, but he wouldn’t suit Coheed.

Claudio and Will would probably clash about vocals. Doesn't sound like a good fit.

You mean because Claudio wants his vocals to be you know... heard?

Everything Yip’s done in the past year has been fine vocally. I think that Circa record would show how Yip would record Coheed vocals. It's all conjecture though. It mainly stems from me loving how that MWY record sounds, and I've been listening to that one back and forth with this one a lot.

Yip and Coheed would make zero sense together IMO

The thing about Coheed that I really appreciate is that, even in songs that don’t really excite me, there is always some element that I really dig.

For instance, “All on Fire” is a perfectly fine song but one that, on the whole, doesn’t do much for me. And I find myself just wanting to get to “It Walks Among Us.” But that “No longer do I! Do I!” segment is so great!

It’s what keeps me from ever really skipping Coheed songs.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

My top Coheed moments (from the first 3 albums):

    - end of Everything Evil (dear Claudddiiioooo)
    - chanting at end of IKS title track (also man your own jackhammers, whole song is amazing)
    - end of Three Evils
    - end of The Crowing (I sense a theme here)
    - dueling guitar solos and chants in Welcome Home, as overplayed as it is. Also the opening riffs.
    - all of 2113
    - pre-chorus/chorus of The Suffering
    - all of The Willing Wells

Dang, the “mile marker, minutes, hours” part in The Pavilion is the exact same melody as the “bodies breaking, drive me crazy” part in here we are juggernaut.
