If your phone is off or on airplane when an amber alert goes out does it come up when you turn it back on or do you just miss it?

I have the Amber alerts turned off on my phone and one went off when I was with friends. All of them got the alert and I didn't. I ended up being ridiculed as a monster the rest of the night, haha

If I'm sitting at home or in my office, a high pitched alert isn't going to help save anyone's life.

Send them like a normal text and I'll be more inclined to keep them on

 

My main complaint with it is that it usually is not in my local area when I get one, just that I’m in the state it’s in.
