IIRC He’s on screen for like 20 minutes because election rules limited amount of time for presidential candidate to be on a major tv network during a live broadcast. Because he was on, NBC was obligated to allow equal time for the other candidates but no one took up that offer. You can look it up but cast members have said the week he was there was a complete shit show.

I've also still not watched that episode, but part of me wants to just because it was the last time they did the Swarovski Crystals porn star ads with Cecily and Vanessa. I fucking loved those and now we'll never get to see them again.

Frankly it’s a blur to me... he’s hardly in it. You can look up clips. I don’t even remember his monologue. I don’t think he even tried playing a character. It’s just himself.

I mean that’s normal. Most episodes the host isn’t in EVERY sketch.

Also, I’ll say Lorne has strived to find unlikely hosts in hopes in proving they’re funny. Non-actors/comics is mostly a swing and a miss like athletes and politicians. The Rock (back when he was mostly known as a wrestler) and Peyton Manning are exceptions, and they parleyed that in successful commercial work.

Timberlake is probably the best example of that, I'm not sure he would even be acting if he wasn't so good on SNL

The Trump episode is one of the worst episodes of tv I’ve ever watched. It’s clear the writers/cast were not into it and Trump would only approve sketches that stroked his ego.

A lot of people forget that they’ve had politicians host. Al Gore, John McCain and Rudy Giuliani all hosted at some time, but most of them didn’t during the election period.

Maybe I'll actually watch this year. Only home run was dr parnassus... cold open was matt damon super quality... and stuff davidson making fun of himself was great...

Everything else ranked from eh to bad. Thought bk joe sketch was awful and...super sketch cliche. See chris farley columbian crystals...that's how you do it.

after running it by Damon sometime after midnight on Friday night, Damon agreed to take on the role. Not long later, at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, Damon flew from California to New York and arrived at SNL’s 30 Rock studio at 4 p.m. to begin rehearsals.

I thought Damon was great. Was a spot-on impression? No, but he brought a ton of humor to what was otherwise an absolutely insane moment in the public eye.

First Leslie and now Wendy Williams... I think Kyle has a particular taste in women.

The best impressions are the ones that capture the essence of a person, not necessarily their voice

    so much for them! Prestigious

i liked the bk coffee sketch, but it was the same exact sketch as the pizza hut one with gosling which was one of my favorites of last season. i get they reuse premises all the time but for the first half it was the same exact thing like almost word for word which threw me off a bit. by the end it started to take a slightly more original take.

I never like when they recycle premises, it makes some sense to build on recurring characters, but reusing the premise with similar characters and just differently phrased jokes is mostly boring.

That's why "Macgruber" worked so well - Same premise and beats, but it always built on itself and got weirder as it went along.
