Josh may, indeed, have information we don’t have, but the way he’s going about it is not a way that I find helpful or one that makes me explicitly trust him. It comes off more as a ploy for social capital to me, which is usually how I view “I know something you don’t know” type statements.

Someone somewhere in the know could have responded to the article and let everyone know that the statements about the mediated conditions were false and PG was lying if that were the case, right?

 

The closest person to knowing anything in this situation is Jake Ewald. And I don't even know what he said about it on twitter.

 

He’s being purposefully antagonistic to people who don’t know what he knows. That’s not tone policing that’s him being a fucking cock. We don’t know what more info he has or what it concerns because he won’t tell us yet he keeps being coy about it. So yeah, I don’t care what he has to say because he could be misrepresenting the victim too because as far as we know they want this over and to move on. What he’s doing is directly counter to that.

 

Again, everybody, I don't agree with how he's saying what he's saying, but to dismiss his points and the points of many, many, many, other people as false or misunderstood etc. is way more harmful than at the very least acknowledging that they should hold some weight. There seems to be a pretty clear message by a lot of people that know the scene/potentially the victim: Pinegrove coming back is a bad thing.

That message is not clear. Because everyone is tap dancing around it and giving zero information as to why that is. I’m not going to put my trust in someone like Josh. Show me these other people (besides Jake Ewald, who I also don’t trust) who have explicitly said it’s a bad thing

 

There are plenty people out there angry about the entire situation, I talked about it a lot in this thread but can't link to it b/c i'm at work. My point is this: When people who are explicitly saying they know more about the situation (but can't talk about it due to the wishes of the victim) are angry at this band for still existing and angry at people for still listening (which is misplaced anger, we agree on that), I can't help but listen to them. It's more harmful to be like "fuck them for being dicks" and continuing to support a man who very well could have done something worse/duped the p4k writer.

I get that it's a very confusing situation, I just find it odd how many people are so eager to dismiss someone who is saying they know more about the situation and the victim's wishes.

 

Until further actual information comes from people directly involved, I'll focus on the music and ignore the passive aggressive non-informative pot stirring sub tweets

I'm honestly baffled right now, this conversation constantly happens in the accountability thread. You can tell people to be nicer or calm down or w/e to get their message across but if there's truth in the message, that matters more. It's very clear that a large group of people are angry about Pinegrove returning. We don't know why. Some say they have more information with us, some are chasing clout, some are dickheads, some are angry etc. My point is that there are a lot of people and we should pay them some mind.

 

show me the other people please thats all i ask. i dont trust josh. i dont trust jake. i have my reasons. you're ready to take the word of them to not trust pinegrove but you wont take my word that i have reason not to trust josh or jake. why?

 

is it possible josh is friends with the victim and just hasnt chosen to forgiven them? like... the victim has.. but no he hasn't.. if it was my friend I could see me still being mad despite the victim being okay with it.

unless any of them are willing to give more information there's literally nothing to do. the victim clearly doesnt want this to go any further into the public, why are these people pushing that limit? if they're not willing to give up information that they have, they cant expect us to do anything more. sorry but im not going to blindly trust what they're saying. its made me think, sure, but if i take their posts into consideration and still choose to listen to pinegrove, how are you going to blame me?

 

anyways, i bought this. at the very least, the donation goes to a good cause.

 

this offers no new information, not sure what im supposed to pull except that this person doesnt support their comeback. i thought we established its okay to disagree on that.

 

There’s also prominent people in the “scene” who are supporting the band. It’s not like it’s one sided.

 

I'm sure we can all think of better ways to discuss Coll/Jake without dredging out the exact talking points used to dismiss victims.
