ARTV is the worst also lmfao about the "poor man's Needle Drop" because as soon as I discovered Anthony I thought that myself. I really liked ARTV at first, I mean he was a little cringy but he seemed like a nice kid (I say kid even though we're the same age he just feels SO much younger which makes sense now, immaturity) and then he made a video begging for Patreon supporters because his job ~sucks sooooo much~ so I donated and I got the tier where you pay for two months and he reviews an EP of your choosing so he did my review the first month then shortly after he came out with tweets or a video... can't remember defending Brand New and I pulled my support immediately now all I see are awful takes from him constantly, hate seeing his channel grow.

The other day he was posted a video complaining about Paramore not playing Misery Business anymore blaming it on cancel culture, he's so out of touch that he's out of touch with his favorite band and their beliefs.

The pinegrove thread is overall...overwhelming and unwelcoming to read men aggressively debating if they can listen guilt free or not (and im not doing this as shade, not do i think thats everyone in the thread or everyones intention. how to go about being a good consumer? fan? does have a certain place) i guess my whole thing is just that it feels...unsafe environmentally. i may just be more sensitive to it than normal because its just been a long week with this stuff. i know in a thread here recently or maybe it was this one it was encouraged to talk about these things so. here

This band knowingly had a rapist in it for a while and only kicked him after public backlash and even then still acted like assholes toward anyone who called them on it. Fuck everything about them

 

Yeah. I forgot about that. Also, If I remember correctly, that was why one of the founding members of Old Wounds left the band because he didn't want to tour with them. After talking about it with the rest of the band (they didn't want to drop the tour because it was with Eighteen Visions), didn't he say screw it and moved on from them?

 

I'm still surprised by how QOTSA doesn't get any flack for Josh Homme kicking a woman in the face during a concert and sending her to the hospital.

That happened, there's clear video of it, and I don't think I've seen it referenced ever again past the week or so around it. Even a friend of mine who is usually very socially conscious about things like that just didn't care and went and saw them live.

I really don't understand why they seem to be the exception to any of this.

 

I would say a lot of that comes from the fact that QOTSA are such a gigantic band that didn't come up/don't endear themselves to a scene where accountability is valued. They're not some small time rock band with a niche following in major US cities, they have millions of fans around the world. The ratio of fans that actually care enough to boycott the band over what he did is like, 500 to 1 and it's inevitable that stuff like kicking women in the face and then apologizing on Instagram is gonna just kinda "disappear". It's definitely not right but that's just kinda the way it is, sadly

 

Especially considering people on the internet knew about this dude's behaviour for Several years before this band was ever anything speaks volumes about these guys
