Im not that into Boxing Day or Disaster, but Disaster should've been an AVA song. Same for the long intro to When I Was Young.

 

Pretty Little Girl is my favorite on the EP. It's such a dope love letter to his wife and kids.

 

Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs are top tier blink imo.

 

Never been into Disaster at all really. I can't even sing any of it in my head lol. It's just funny to me when that came out it was like "see this is what you get when you're in the same room together" but it's just more Neighborhoods to me. Doesn't sound like Tom had anything to do with the title track.

I need to make a tracklist out of the two and maybe I'll listen to those songs more.

Boxing Day BUH-LOWS and, while the intro to Disaster is very AVA, it took me a while to get over that and realize the real meat and potatoes of the song is VERY classic blink. Just all the shit you gotta get to to get there is nonsense. And PLG is one of the best post-reunion tracks. Y’all sniffing glue. Get over the yelawolf thing already.

Speaking of which, I randomly caught Paul Rodriguez (the skater) on an Instagram live and he said yela was probably the best skater that’s also a rapper. Thought that was interesting

 

Agreed. I feel like everyone dismisses that song just because of the rap verse. It literally takes up like 25 seconds of the song, the rest is great, classic blink to my ears.

 

"Pretty Little Girl" doesn't sound like Blink to me at all. Sounds like a song that would have fit on Tom's demo album or something. No matter how hard I've tried, I can't get through it.

The first 3 songs on the EP are rad though.

 

Listening to Disaster now, the whole thing is completely AVA. Can honestly say I feel no blink in it. Sounds like it came off I-Empire to me

 

I love Pretty Little Girl except for that one part.

 

The only thing blink about it is Marks vocals lmao

That demo EP is the hottest garbage I’ve ever heard from Tom. Even it’s most standout track, endless summer, can get in the bin. MUSIC IS OBJECTIVE IN THIS REGARD LISTEN TO ME ON MY APPLEBOX GRANDSTAND OK THANKS! ;)

 

"Disaster" is the best AVA song so I'm happy he saved it for Blink.

if Endless Summer didn't have that pointless 15 minute intro, it'd be one of the best Tom songs in 10 years.

"Suburban Kings" is a nice song with potential. To say the entire demos EP is garbage seems colored by Tom hate.

I did a pick slide on an acoustic guitar yesterday and thought it was hilarious. My girlfriend, however, did not.

 

I'm re-listening to the Tom EP right now for the first time since it came out. It kinda has its moments but overall it's meh. I get that they're supposedly 'demos', but because of this they sound pretty rushed and/or unfinished. Like, why not spend some more time on them and release a proper solo album? Endless Summer and Invisible Parade have potential, other songs could have been cool but sound forced, like homeboy was trying too hard to be like "See? I still make punk rawk sawngs!!". Idk, still as underwhelming as it was when it was released. 3/10 would not bang.
