I hate to say it, but there should be some sort of clause in coaching contracts about if players are demanding trades. I don't blame Thibs for not wanting to be there if the team trades Butler for draft picks or expiring contracts. I posted yesterday, this is getting out of hand. Three of the NBA's top 10-15 players have demanded trades in the past 13 months. What are coaches supposed to do? I get trades are made and free agency happens, but now we're getting to players not only demanding trades, then giving lists of teams to be traded to, which significantly decreases the value of the player.

Ideally, the NBA would do more about limiting player demands for trade requests. I just don't know what all can be done.

Thibs is not a victim here. He is the president of basketball operations and made the trade for Butler knowing full well this was a potential outcome.

Thibs is also owed something like $14 million on his contract. Handling situations like this is what he is getting paid obscene amounts of money to do.

They should just fire thibs and wait a few weeks, maybe something good will actually come from it
