iOS 12 is smooth.

Stoked for my Max to get here. Despite the terrible naming scheme, I think I'm ready for a cumbersome big screen again.

 

Care to share? I toyed around with the limited shortcuts available in the beta and I downloaded the full-blown Shortcuts app last night, but I haven't had a chance to explore. I'd love to get some ideas.

 

So far I've used the new Siri Shortcuts thing for Streaks to easily mark them as done. And Things to create some simple tasks in the background.

However, since it uses the old Workflow app, I've got a whole lot of things in there I use each day. I use it for a custom Tip Calculator, to send files directly to a folder on Dropbox which my computer watches and then moves the file to my desktop. To quickly log my weight, to send ETA times from my current location, and some other little things.

Impatient for Friday. Verizon notified me about shipping and Apple charged me. So hopefully all good signs everything arrives as planned.

I'd also take a today widget that just showed me my two bank account balances.

or just a Bank of America widget since my credit union has one.

 

Mint.com, can't pay them from one app, but the balances are there.

just tried out the measure app for the first time and it's so fucking cool

 

did that as a hackathon idea last year for our company. won local, but not regionals. the paying everything in 1 app would depend on how brands would be willing to provide APIs for that.

what upsets me is that for this year, one of the topics is about making a subscription manager (so pretty much what we did last year)

Yeah this is amazing. I switched from iCloud Keychain to 1Password a few months ago because I prefer the way everything is organized on there, and I saw this was coming. Wow, what a game changer already.

 

Anyone had their status change on their new phone supposedly arriving Friday? I would think they'd need to ship today but my status hasn't changed.

 

Hit up UPS track by reference (full 10-digit phone number assiciated with the phone, or the order number (with the W) minus the last two digits). Chances are, if you've ordered from Apple, it's moving. Apple just doesn't send tracking #s until the phones hit Kentucky.

 

wow having google maps on apple carplay is a godsend. I'll try out waze today too.

 

I like the quickness of iOS12 but other than that I haven't really noticed too much of a difference.

 

Has anyone gotten a case or protector yet for the Max? Any brand suggestions? Maybe some Wireless Charging Suggestions?

 

I really love Peel cases. They're thin, have minimal branding and doesn't feel bulky.

 

Do they have a lip to protect the screen a little? I definitely want minimal, but still have some lip.

I have a cheap case for my 8 Plus that been pretty great.
