It's closer to something like The Sims. You design your own house in a town filled with weird and cute animals and run errands for other villagers to get more stuff for your house. You can also fish and shake trees and sell stuff to get more money to upgrade your house.

By all accounts, the game sounds like it should be boring on paper, but it's really addictive and completely charming. Each new version of the game adds something special. In the last version for 3DS, you got to manage the town and build new structures and such. It's really cool.

Stardew Valley is more akin to Harvest Moon.

Edit: there's also stuff like dressing up your characters, collecting fossils and bugs and town events as well as multiplayer games.

 

Really though, animal crossing is everything. When they cut to Isabel my wife squeezed my arm so damm hard. The look on her face when the smash reveal came was like her puppy just died lmao. What a good day.

 

I'm getting that new Super Mario. I never got a WiiU so everything is new to me.

 

I think that's a really cool thing. A lot of people complain about all the ports Nintendo does, but for people like you, it's absolutely perfect. The Wii U had some fantastic games that were basically sentenced to death on a bad console.

 

Cities Skylines looks dope but I'm worried about performance.

I have a friend who is moving home to Boston so he is just going to give me his xbox one because he doesn't want it? So I'm gonna trade it to a guy a found on OfferUp for a loaded hacked 2ds xl and you best believe I'm gonna have Smash on it and practice ALOT

 

Never really got into AC but my brother did on the DS. From what very little I played a long time ago I know it’s going to ruin me and I can’t wait.

Town looked super interesting. I like the art style.

NSMB is new to me. Only got to play it for a little at a friend’s house. So I’m all in.

Final Fantasy collection is sick. I literally cannot tell you which one’s I’ve played and never finished but will definitely go through them all this time.

Online is what it is. It’s $20 a year so I’ll gladly take whatever they want to give me.

Yeah that definitely sounds very boring, haha. Enough people like it that I know there is something to it but I guess its something you have to experience yourself

 

I remember the first time I watched someone play the original for GameCube and I was like "why? Why would you waste your time on this?" and then I played it myself and I've been addicted ever since. I sunk like 750+ hours into New Leaf on 3DS.

seriously though, there’s a lot there to like in the coming months and going into 2019. do I wish they’d lay out their plan in front of us for Online? sure. but look at what they’ve given us and what’s to come. all good stuff.

honestly hard to tell, but this is definitely one of the better ones.

This Switch era is so rewarding to be a Nintendo fan, love it especially after going through the dark ages. They've had some of the most memorable reveals in recent years:

- BotW reveal with the wallpaper but actually in-game footage demo
- Super Mario Odyssey low key being shown in a highlight video
- Inkling + Smash reveal
- Fire Emblem 3 Houses
- Metroid Prime 4
- Isabelle for Smash trolling + new Animal Crossing reveal

Probably missing a lot, but I'm very happy with Nintendo right now.

 

Very excited for Animal crossing. I put so much time into the GameCube version when I was younger, and New Leaf when that came out. It’s so consuming

as much as i love my wii u it was super clunky to use. Maybe I'm just inefficient but changing games/controllers took so much of my time. The exclusives were fantastic though.

After the Switch release, it definitely feels like a prototype.

rewatched the direct with my SO, and it is really a good one.

- Toad playing ARMS incorrectly still made me chuckle
- The way Warframe suddenly transitioned into Just Dance was so offputting in the best possible way
- The AC reveal was so chill
- We still don't know what Retro is doing!

 

probably because those games arent the best mario games. I only remember really liking the first one on the wii because that was the first 2d mario game on a home console after a really long drought of not having any 2d mario games on a home console
