I want to say the first Tuesday of the month as that's when the store is updated (Store is updated on Tuesdays). Just a complete guess though.

I've got my PSN credit purchased for Mirror's Edge. Now I just wait for reviews. If it is not good, I'll just go ahead and pre-order Mafia 3 lol.

I can't say the new Mirror's Edge is bad, but the few hours I put into the beta didn't leave me wanting more, not sure the open world design is the best for that series.

Yeah, I liked the beta, but I want to see how it handles when the full game is out. I love the gameplay, but I'm not sure I want to just go back and forth over the same rooftops over and over -_-.

Then again, it was either this, or no Mirror's Edge since they said they were given the go ahead to better learn how to do open world games and develop tech for the new EA Motive studio which is apparently only aiding on Viscerals Star Wars game and are going to make a GTA clone in the future.

Been having problems with my PS4 not turning on today. Turns on for one second, then makes a clicking noise. I cleaned out the back vents, and it worked again for an hour before it happened again. Did the same, and now it's fine again. Wondering if it's my power supply.

I was watching someone on twitch please dead by daylight I think was its name? That game looks like brutal and I'm shocked that didn't get picked up in the twitch community like some other games have with 5 v 1.

I don't post a lot here, I haven't played a ton of video games lately (I have a PS3 and have been very, very casually replaying Pokemon LeafGreen on my DS Lite lately, since I've gotten really really busy it's been hard to make time for other stuff). But I don't really have another outlet for this kind of thing, especially video game thoughts, so I hope it's alright that I put it out here.

Mass Effect is just unbelievable (spoilers for the series to follow). I don't know that there's another video game that has so purely and so beautifully encapsulated so many incredible and artistic statements through the medium as the Mass Effect series (Journey and Flower are my other go-tos, but Mass Effect is by far the standout in the mainstream/conventional narrative format). I was stargazing with my brother tonight (after seeing Motion City Soundtrack, an unrelated but fun sidenote), using his telescope to look out at the stars and the planets and celestial bodies, and I was reminded of the ME3 epilogue, where an old man (voiced by Buzz Aldrin) has finished up telling a young boy the story of the Shepard. No other moment in conventional narrative video gaming that I've ever seen comes as close to as beautiful a moment as that. It not only encapsulates the entire meaning of the series, in what Shepard and the Normandy crew and all the races of the galaxy have fought for (a future that lives beyond them), but it speaks to our human quest and natural impulse to look up and outwards (again, Buzz fucking Aldrin is voicing this guy), that we have always looked up and outward, and always will, for some hope at legacy, at paving the way for future generations to build on and go even further, and that is the most pure and natural basis for storytelling, and that the Mass Effect 3 epilogue can speak to those two layers as well as the very idea of why we even tell stories like Mass Effect does at all, is astounding. I haven't experienced it in any other video game. We tell stories because they make sense of the unknown and because they speak to potential and hope and perseverance and legacy, all things that are core themes to the Mass Effect series and all things that the Mass Effect trilogy's story ultimately is. That's what humanity is. We reach out, hoping to outlive our grasp somehow. I might need to give the series another playthrough soon if I can make the time. I really fucking love it.
I'm probably well over a couple beers too deep to try and make sense of what I was feeling tonight, but this was a little bit of an outlet, so I'm glad I could put it somewhere.

There was actually a surprisingly great conversation on the Off Topic podcast from Roosterteeth this week on representation/racism, last place I expected to see weighty social issues being brought up.

Anyone played Dangerous Golf? I like the look of it since I love my games that have solid destruction physics but not sure if it would last all that long.

Saw it on Youtube this weekend, didn't look like it had much depth or anything to do with golf.

It looked pretty bad from what I saw of it in a quicklook, like it all seemed so pointless.

Yeah that was my take from it too. Hit the ball, everything explodes, putt and move on. No difficulty or challenge.

Wasn't expecting it to have all that much to do with golf as that really isn't the point, like Burnout the racing isn't the main part. Just wanted to know if it was fun or long lasting enough for a game that isn't full price.

FFXII is one of my favorites (or at least my memory of it from 2005 or whenever is), will absolutely check it out again.
