Moving from northern suburbs to Melrose Park (around 18th and North Ave). How is that area? Anything to be worried about?

Oh man, I'm right near you (Western/WIlson). I love Rockwells but have never seen B&B. My lady and I will have to hit it up for breakfast on the weekends.

Beans and Bagels is at LeLand and Rockwell's. It is literally less than a block for me. They have great coffee, donuts and bagels. Definitely give them a go for a brunch or quick bite. Pretty awesome spot.

IIRC, Melrose Park is a nice predominantly Hispanic, working and middle class area. It's pretty safe though you are near Maywood which can get a little dicey sometimes. Nowhere near as bad as parts of Chicago proper though. What suburb are you moving from?

I’m actually in Forest Park, which isn’t too far from Melrose Park. Pretty nice area I think!

I love Skokie. Drive through it a far amount from work and/or during weekends.

I was at Old Orchard on Sunday with my wife. It's not a bad area. Skokie's downtown is pretty nice too. Foghat played a festival there this past weekend IIRC.

Yeah, wife has had a few runs to Old Orchard recently. Downtown is quite nice.

Melrose is fine. Maybe not the most to do socially, but it's a short drive to places. Someone mentioned Maywood can get dicey, especially south of Lake St and St. Charles Road. Melrose has the Taste of Melrose and a Catholic church has a weekend festival each Summer if you want good Italian food. Slice Factory (23rd and North I think?) has cheap, giant slices of pizza.

My dads high school won a contest to have Foghat play their gym. The nuns were not happy lol.

    Avacado: Green Gold.

Ha I got an ad for that show somewhere on social media. And they used one of the promo shots of the blink cover band. It's kind of hilarious. Looks like a MADTV version of blink.

Random question: Why do some venues like Empty Bottle, Lincoln Hall/Schubas, Bottom Lounge, etc. put on all their own shows but venues like Beat Kitchen and Subterranean shows are put on by an outside company (Kickstand Productions). I know before Kickstand was around another company put on shows at those places but I am curious why they outsource their show booking.

Kind of a pointless question, but one I have been curious about for a bit.

I know schuss people also do Lincoln hall, and empty bottle people do Thalia and a few other locations. Kickstand does Subt and beat kitchen, it always felt like the same thing to me except they had a different name

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

Yep! Blink-180 True was decent but hearing imitations of Blink stage banter from 40 year olds was worse than seeing the actual 40 year old Blink guys do the jokes. Very cringey, but they killed the songs! The Linkin Park Experience was truly terrible and I missed Don't Speak but I saw the singer at the bar. She nailed the Gwen look
