I’m not sure what the deal is there because I purchased 2 GA tickets a month ago and it was $112.50/ticket after fees.

Maybe the tickets for that date left are resale or something?

  2. Ya that’s gotta be some aftermarket pricing. Idk if the highest VIP package is even that much.

Their marketing after Bored To Death was bizarre. Like, HISALP should have been a huge pop radio hit, but they just released a low budget video with hardly any word and gave it no radio push.

How the hell did they not push for sober and San Diego for singles? So dumb

San Diego is a fantastic song but absolutely not a single

lol San Diego would be a terrible single

  8. “Sober” didn’t test very well as a single from what I recall.

I can believe it. I can sort of understand that they were working with Patrick and going for "what would Blink sound like if they took a similar route to FOB" but it just comes across as self-parody.

  10. I like the song a whole lot. I just don’t think it’s great for the radio in 2016. It was a weird cross that couldn’t really fit in alt rock or pop radio. The three picks they went with made the most sense to me.

Isn’t there a version of Sober in existence with Patrick Stump on vocals?

If so, I want it badly. I had no idea this was a thing. More Patrick can only be a good thing.

They just played HISALP at a liquor store here in Massachusetts.

I'd be surprised if this exists in anything beyond a very basic demo, purely on the basis that if it did it would have been released by now on the deluxe edition or as a B-side if nothing else.

Also, today I learned that Patrick also co-wrote San Diego.

I loved the HISALP music video. Fit the song perfectly and was probably their best music video since Always.

But I do agree with everything you said. They waited way too long to release a second single.

Yeah I also think it's one of their best videos, but part of me always thought they used that concept because it was all they could work with with the label's budget.

That’s certainly possible. It seemed like the budget for the other two videos are limited too.

I think San Diego would have killed it on the radio, similar to Adams song

No way in hell would San Diego have been a big Top 40 Song.

San Diego being on the radio would have led to every single music outlet asking the band to explain the lyrics and asking Tom if he was hurt by them, probably a sensible choice not to release it as a single.

Which would also lead to more publicity and more radio plays. Plus it’s got a killer hook

Not sure where I stand on it being a single, but I will say as a more casual fan of the band that the pre chorus and chorus of San Diego get stuck in my head way more than anything else on the album. I can go weeks without hearing it and I’ll still start randomly
singing it out loud or in my head.

San Diego is probably my favorite track off California and Deluxe, but I never once thought it should be a single and play on the radio.
