i can’t wait for the podcasts in 10 years about the “reality era”. it’s what we were promised, and given for a very very short time. since then it’s been obviously hamfisted angles (Roman/Jinder as champs) and an unyielding commitment to “top guy” ideals. there are three brands, and we deserve three top guys. we deserve an alternate timeline where we get a Reigns/Styles/Ciampa triple threat at Taboo Tuesday and we don’t know who’s going over. as it stands we buy one guy over the other two, and we don’t love him, so it’s a net loss. idk. imagine having three good to great products and placing all you bets on the begrudgingly accepted face of the weakest brand. it could be a real playground if they let it.

 

Everyone in the New Day vs Hammer Husbands match just seemed to be working way too fast. I've heard a couple wrestlers talk about slowing down in the ring in various interviews and that seemed like a prime example of it. Maybe they thought they needed to do way more with less in the time that they were given on a huge card in order to stand out, but it felt really zany and crazy and hard to digest

it was a perfectly fine show which means it was one of the better main roster ppvs of the year. aj/joe and bryan/miz knocked it out of the park,

 

Gonna try to watch some of the earlier matches. Dean looks like a young version Merle from the walking dead

 

i just wanna see Joe in every match over the whole 6 hours. if they Dibiase him and are too afraid to give him the belt then they are fucking up tremendously

 

I mean with how personal this feud is getting, it is being set up nicely for the HIAC stipulation

But I agree with how hot joe is currently getting the title sooner rather than later is best for business

No excuse for Joe/AJ and Becky/Charlotte not to be in the cell.

 

NXT (and to a lesser extent, 205 Live) is a testament to that. There's no single top guy; the hottest feud gets top billing, people can be dominant (Asuka) without hurting the entire company. NXT could run a 2hr show each week and while it might be slightly less special, it'd still be great. Though Takeover being 5x a year versus 12ppvs helps a lot.

And its not because Raw is 3hrs, since it feels like Smackdown is about to enter another golden era. It feels a lot like right after the brand split, with every title having some meaning and stories firing on all cylinders.

Not sure if its a head writer thing or what, but RAW is so noticeably worse each week its kind of hard to believe its the same company.
