Probably would have been better because they would have most likely had better production at that time

I think you have a really good point. Also with Tom leaving blink, it showed that the blink name carries more weight than any of the individual members. So unless you're a hardcore blink or Tom fan you're probably not getting any of the causal fans that go to see blink play ATST live go to the shows. I think in 2018 AVA would have a hard time having a successful tour.

I think the key will always be if they were going to have a producer during the recording sessions (which most likely would have been Jerry Finn) and what the recording process would be like.

Those slowed down crap versions of blink songs he played with AVA are still some of the worst things ever lol

Especially when he would forget the words to the songs too. Haha.

The five most cringe worthy words put together are: Down at the Weenie Roast.

That HAD to have been his lowest point, right?

  7. his dance moves during this one... (and the obvious studio vocals because his live voice is too bad for television)

If AVA tour again I think in the big markets they can still do like 3k venues.

All of this blink talk made me put on DED on the way back from my lunch break. Pulled up to the stoplight next to a girl with the Untitled smiley decal on her SUV.

I think outside of California AVA will have trouble consistently getting that. The band hasn't put out a full length album in 5 years (which sold approximately 45k copies) and haven't toured in 6 years. They have been irrelevant and forgotten about by the causal fans. They will be banking on the "Tom Delonge from blink-182" name to sell these shows and who knows if that alone can sell when it's not blink-182 playing blink-182 songs. Outside of the hardcore Tom/blink fans I don't know who they would appeal to to draw a crowd of that size unless they put out a really popular first single or co-headline a tour with a band that is use to playing in those size venues that would be the main draw.

Obviously not a big market but Connecticut has a very good blink following and the band draws really well there. When AVA last came in 2010 there they couldn't even sell out a 1600 person venue and had only played at a venue that holds 1200 people. The year before in 2009 blink had 24,767 people show up to a concert.

I could be 100% wrong but I just don't see how AVA in 2018 could do that.

  11. Saw an untitled smiley tattoo on a younger dude at the natural history museum here in LA over the weekend. While I was wearing a HMNIM shirt, I didn’t say anything because I was in full on “dad mode” and I didn’t wanna seem creepy.

Yeah I was thinking mainly like Los Angeles, San Diego, NYC, Boston and Chicago. When AVA comes back to NYC I definitely picture them playing either the Playstation Theater (2,300 capacity) or Terminal 5 (3,000 capacity).

  13. or maybe they should co-headline or open for a bigger band so they can fill up a bigger room and pretend like everyone is there for just them. :eh:

I think LA and San Diego they should have no problem doing that but would be really interested in seeing how they would do in those other markets.

Man, all this Tom talk has me craving again. Just relistened to Box Car Racer, and damn that record holds up. Easily some of Tom's best work.

  17. BCR and Blink's Untitled album are the definitive Tom career highlights, hands down.

The fact that the demo "album" even exists is funny because of how petty it is. He got kicked out of blink and immediately started posting about these songs like this was supposed to be the new album that they ruined ("See! I love blink!"). Even made a couple music videos... ugh.

Edit: And the sad hashtag on his instagram post about it #songswithoutahome

Probably right. If it weren’t for this community I’d be in the dark on everything AVA, as I unfollowed everything Tom related because it all became a pitch to sell To The Stars or a never ending teaser for something.

To pull off a successful album release & tour I’d imagine they’d need a MASSIVE marketing campaign way in advance of any record coming out, and it’d have to name drop blink-182 to get any recognition.

He would need to bring an actual alien on tour to ever shake the necessity of having blink's name attached to whatever project he's working on.

At least it gave us that awesome music video of him walking the streets with a guitar in a shopping cart. Unintentionally comedy at its best.

Which would mean he would need a record label to help back him which is something he hasn’t be interested in.
