I posted in here because I wanted the thoughts of beer drinkers. I think there's a lot of correlation between the two.

Starting to get more into wine as well. Really I like all styles too, but I really can't differentiate between different qualities of wine the same way I can with beer. Either the wine is amazing, good, or terrible, no in between lol. Sauv Blanc/Pinot Grigio/and Vinho Verde as of today lol are my favorite whites, and Cab Sauv/Pinot Noirs/Syrrahs are my favorite reds. Really is a great alternative to the heaviness of beer.

Mango Magnifico - I don't care for mango but this was delicious. And at 10%!
Spruce Springsteen
Nitro Rubaeus - was a delicious surprise.
Sumatra Mountain Brown
PC Pils

They were out of Blushing Monk which I really wanted to try.

 

Very nice. I did not like Mango Magnifico at all, and most people I've encountered say it's way worse than last years batch which was a taphouse-only beer. Sumatra I think is the best or second best beer Founders has unveiled in a long time (up there with Redankulous, IMO). Blushing Monk has more tartness than Rubaeous and it's about twice the alcohol. I've been told that the main difference is fresh versus non-fresh (frozen? puree?) raspberries in Blushing Monk and that cuts the sweetness but I'm not entirely sure on it. Either way, BM is one of my favorite fruit beers.

Really solid lineup, for sure.

 

To be honest, there's nothing wrong with setting up a foundation for future posts to grow from. Even if it's a small interest, it doesn't hurt to try and start something.

 

I thought Mango Magnifico was great. When was it a Brewery only release? I had it in both 2013 and 2014.

 

I'm a Founders slappy, but I really loved Mango Magnifico. A good balance of sweet and spicy.

Project Pam was something else though. MM is still on the shelves everywhere I go, but Project Pam was gone so quick.

 

Last week I went to Burlington, VT and had some awesome local brews from Queen City, Zero Gravity, and Citizen Cider.

Also, they served Heady Topper and Focal Banger at the local airport.

 

BRB, booking a flight to Burlington and back... with a long layover between!

 

Picked up a four pack of Rochester Mills Blueberry Pancake Milkshake Stout. Really excited to try it, I love their regular milkshake stout.

 

Blueberry Pancake Milkshake. This is so overtop to NOT try it. But I bet it's delicious.

 

Had Tapistry's B.C 2 Hander Imperial Red in Midland. Getting my Midwest brew fix on my Midwest trip.

 

I was thinking they only had it as a brewery-only release until last year, but I guess I just never gave it much attention before that. Interesting.

I drank MM with six people and we drain poured half the bottle. It's cloyingly sweet and the heat that is there isn't enough to balance what is just, to me, an artificial mango flavor. Was not a fan at all and the worst Founders beer I've had that aren't them dicking around (like putting All Day IPA in a hot sauce barrel or KBS in a hot sauce barrel which ruined both beers).

Project Pam was really solid. I liked it more the second time I had it and when I stopped expecting a hoppy Black IPA and started expecting a light, sweet porter-esque beer.

What'd you think? I thought that beer was great. Hopped nicely, citrus nose, wonderful malts. I think Tapistry is the most underrated small brewery in Michigan -- or at least up there. BC 2-Hander, Enigma, 100 Watt Amp Kicker, Heart Full of Napalm, Nelson's Empire ... they're doing really good things with Midwest style IPA's. Big fan. Also the owners are insanely nice dudes who remember faces even though I've met each of them just twice in like two years.

 

Anyone tried the Sam Adam's Utopia's?

 

How about this year's Beer Camp? I had Stout of the Union and it was a super solid stout, at some point probably will get the whole box if I don't have to hunt to get it

 

I think Moxee Moron is far and away the best beer there. The stout was average, IMO. West Latitude session was decent, Pat-Rye-Ot was solid though hoppier with less rye than anticipated, and the southern table beer is just weird. Corn up front, fruity, saison on the end. Pours pink-ish. Weird.

 

I knew very little of Tapistry and hadn't had any of their beers until now but I was very happy with it. An Imperial Red intrigued me enough to try it and I was glad I did. I was expecting big hops, over the top even being an imperial, but it was the right amount to make for a very drinkable beer. I think with it being a red, the malts helps balance it.

They also had Tapistry's Twistin' Hay which I did not get to try.

Midland also has this place called WhichCraft that offers an absurd amount of taps so I'm going to take a gander over there, too.

 

Split a case of Grapefruit Sculpin with a random dude at the distributer last night.

 

Today will consist of drinking Grapefruit Shandy all day while in a pool. Case of LaCroix with me for rehydration.

 

Seadog Sunfish is my new favorite Summer beer right now.

 

Really? I was not really feeling Sumatra when I had it a few weeks ago. Guess I should try it again!

 

Stopped into Little Bavaria, aka Frankenmuth, and of course popped into Frankenmuth Brewery.

 

Birthday gift for my dad. Looking forward to cracking into some of these with him tonight.
