We reach for the longest shadow

Just popping on here to say Sing the Sorrow is one of the best albums to come out of this "scene". Carry on.

Interesting take! For me it’s the perfect Autumn/Winter album for obvious reasons.

I’m still gutted Sing The Sorrow isn’t on the UK Apple Music. Madness!

It’s funny you say that because it’s such a winter-themed album, yet it was released in June 2006. I feel the same way though because I had just gotten my license that summer, and that album came out so i would drive around singing it all the time, even if I didn’t have anywhere to go. I would just drive around to listen and jam out to it.

For me, it's just the perfect AFI album, no matter the time of year :-)

decemberunderground to this day blows me away with how well it built upon Sing The Sorrow. It's some of Jade's best guitar work and considering what Davey went through with this voice prior to recording, he sounds incredible.

Is Medicate on Crash Love? That's a good song.

Crash Love is my absolute favorite AFI album but I can say Decemberunderground is their best album.

yeah, du is a weird album in that it is clearly autumn / winter music but it was released in the summer (not to mention the ahem december reference in the title)

StS is my summer AFI album tho - it was the perfect soundtrack to one perfect summer - so many memories attached to it but also a general feeling that v rarely comes back to me these days

  13. Black sails thru DU was such an amazing run and evolution. I haven’t been stoked on anything since but that’s because the bar was set SO high.

  14. Super hot take but Burials is my favorite AFI album. I feel like it takes the glammy sound of Crash Love and even DU and blends it with their darker StS tendencies.

Burials has grown on me over the years for sure. I agree that it blends those styles together pretty well. Deep Slow Panic and Conductor are 2 of my favorite AFI songs.

I love Burials conceptually but it didn’t move me

it kind of gave me Viva Emptiness-era Katatonia vibes and was really excited about it but it didn’t deliver on that promise and that would have been such a cool fit to them

  18. Don't know if Burials tops Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground for me but it might be 3rd. Great album and Conductor is among my favorite AFI tracks.

I still can’t get into Crash Love to this day. Too “oh’s” from Davey and compared to the 4 albums that preceded it, it felt bland to me. That being said “Medicate” is an incredible song

I still haven’t listened to the most recent album. Not sure why to be honest. I liked Crash Love and Burials pretty well.

Does anyone remember the MTV special that aired before the Miss Murder premier?

There was a legitimate buildup of hype for that song.

Haha there are a lot of Ohhs in that album. I love them though! I can see it being annoying if you aren't a fan of them lol.
