Turnstiles - Time & Space

I'm actually surprised I haven't heard this, since it's right up my alley. It's hardcore punk with some variations. "I Don't Wanna Be Blind" starts with clean vocals, gets shouty, goes to clean, then back to shouty. "Bomb" consists of a woman singing to a groovy beat for 30 seconds and "Disco" is atmospheric jazz. My favorite track though is "Can't Get Away." The last thirty seconds have me shouting along with Yates when the instruments cut out and it's just him. "Moon" is a track under two minutes that's very poppy with smooth melodies. I loved this album. I played it probably ten times. I had it on repeat and it went by so fast, since it's only 25 minutes. The 13 songs are short, fast, loud, and often catchy. I read somewhere else on here that this is a hardcore punk record for people who aren't fans of the genre and I agree with that.

Great job on the reviews! I agree that Turnstile made hardcore accessible with this record and hopefully people will start to notice some other bands. I know Vein is getting a lot of hype and of course there is Code Orange but these are far heavier bands. I look forward to trading again!

Yeah Turnstile are incredible live. They were probably my favourite set of 2000 Trees (it's between them and Enter Shikari). I definitley agree that they're much more accessible than other hardcore bands too as I dragged my mate who's not really into heavy stuff to their set and he loved it.

 

This looks like fun, I wanna join this club!
