It` s very pity. He was the great person and the awesome musician. This year is horrible.

 

I was thinking about it last year, but it seems like pop music and pop music icons sort of came to the front of our culture roughly 50-60 years ago, and now is the time that all of those originators are aging. In the next 10 or so years we could lose Mick Jagger (74), Keith Richards (73), Bob Dylan (76), Elton John (70), Bruce Springsteen (68), Paul McCartney (75), Paul Simon (75), Van Morrison (72), Bob Weir (69), Emmylou Harris (70) and on and on and on.

 

A little late, but I saw him in 2010 and am very thankful for that. It was an awesome show.

Terrible loss.

"Room at the Top" is slowly climbing my list of favorite Petty songs.

 

Has there been any word on the 2nd half of Wildflowers ever coming out now? @Craig Manning have you heard anything?

Heck, if it’s a tribute show I hope it gets recorded and released.

Yeah, this looks good, but in terms of unheard studio material I think the proposed Wildflowers set had more songs of that nature than this does.

Boy do I hope "Keep a Little Soul" isn't the only song of its caliber in the vaults, because it's so fuckin' good.

 

Anyone who hasn't already dedicated several hours of their day to An American Treasure is sorely missing out. Fuck, Tom Petty was so good. I'm sure some will disagree, but I think Tom Petty is the greatest American songwriter of all time.

 

The previously unheard stuff on American Treasure = Total gems. Unreal the songs this guy threw away.

I wish I had appreciated the entire discography more years back. I mean I've always loved Petty and went to see him in high school but I just didn't absorb it enough while he was still around. Skipped his last stop in my area because I had an ATDI concert that week. Feels bad haha

 

Well, sounds like the Wildflowers album is set to go, whenever these three can get on the same page.
