Origins is easily the best AC

 

I know I should. Maybe I'll come back to it again one day.

 

I think there are two distinct types of AC, 'city AC' and 'larger world AC' or something like that, and Origins is the best 'larger world' and Syndicate is the best 'city', but I couldn't choose between the two I think. That grappling hook in Syndicate is something though.

 

As someone that grew up and absolutely loved Assassin Creed games, but Unity and Black Flag totally lost me, am I likely to enjoy Syndicate? I keep getting tempted to get it on sale, but not sure if it's worth it... Is it basically peak Assassin's Creed city, as said above?

I kinda wanna get Hyrule Warriors Definite Edition, however, I also kinda don't.

Who wants to give me 80 dollars so I don't have to spend my own money?

 

I think I got the most I'm going to get out of it. Warriors games have such short lives for me. I can only spam square for so long.

 

I liked that game more than Breath Of The Wild and I'm not fucking with anyone. I genuinely did. I liked the challenge of getting all the characters and enjoyed playing as various characters through levels set in Ocarina Of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Being able to have a character from Twilight Princess race around the world of Wind Waker, full with the cell-shaded art style was really cool for me and made me want to explore all the old games in the franchise again.

That's just me though. I loves destroying everyone as Skull Kid and seeing all the different attack combos and animations.

Side note: the game is way better than Fire Emblem Warriors.

 

I think BotW is my least favorite Zelda outside of maybe Link's Crossbow Training.

It’s probably my favorite game ever

 

It's a great game in a lot of ways, but it's not a masterpiece and its aimlessness is both it's strongest and weakest aspect.

I've never met someone who liked the crossbow game that much.

 

I'm curious what your list of favorite games would be. Did we do this already? I feel like we did haha

 

I just have a lot of issues with BotW. It felt like it lacked a lot of substance. Lack of story, expanses of nothing, no dedicated dungeons, basically just four bosses. It feels incomplete. I got everything from the shrines and nuts and felt like I did nothing. And god damn it, fuck breakable weapons.

The world is GORGEOUS and there are some really excellent innovations. Abilities were a lot of fun to play around with.

Older Zelda games always felt like you were building to become a true warrior. This game throws you the only tools you need at the beginning and just says, "Do whatever the hell you want." I like direction, purpose, and a narrative.

 

We probably did. My favorite list would be really difficult. It was initially Super Mario 64, largely because it was the first game I ever played but I still love it to this day.

 

That honestly summed up a lot of my problems. I feel like the narrative they set didn't match the style of the game. It was a game about waking you up after 100 years or whatever because you needed to stop Calamity Ganon from destorying Hyrule yet there was NO sense of urgency at all through the whole game.

Also, they clearly have people who sell you different types of arrows or weapons and such, so they have blacksmiths or whatever and you're telling me NONE OF THEM CAN FIX MY WEAPONS?! They already had a whole materials system. I don't understand why they didn't just make more use out of it.

I had the same problem with BOTW that I did with Super Mario Odyssey: it became a game about collecting for the sake of collecting because after a certain point what you're collecting does very little for you and I don't find that fun.
