Some highlights about blink (if you don't want to read all the pages) from the interview with Travis and Drum Magazine:

-"I felt like some of the stuff we were doing in my studio was really cool. We were getting to know each other, meaning Matt, Mark, and myself, coming together as Blink. I think the songs Matt sang sounded very much along the lines of Alkaline Trio, and the songs Mark came p with sounded very much like Blink. John was very good about finding a way for the hybrid of both to happen. He figured out how Matt, Mark and I fit together" -Travis

-"John was fusing Mark and Matt together. He helped shape this sound, which I feel is the next chapter for Blink." -Travis

-"We were given a preview of that sound as Feldmann played us several tracks from the album. The results of the band's willingness to take a risk with a new producer were apparent in the tunes that were cranking at full volume and the goose bumps on our arms. The songs were recognizably Blink-182 with Barker's drums front and center, but there was an added depth and darkness to the recording that gave it an extra dimension" - Drum Magazine.

-"It's complicated because there was a bandmember change. We would do huge tours and the whole time Tom would be like, 'We gotta make a huge album, we gotta get in the studio right when we get back.' Then we'd never hear from him. He'd go ghost. After doing that for so long, the last attempt to make an album, he was like, 'I refuse to be in the studio without a record deal in place.' So, we go and sign this record deal, just so we can get this guy in the studio to work. Then he quits the band. You find yourself in this deal that HE really wanted and now he's not in the band!" - Travis

-"Make no mistake, Tom's a great songwriter. I think he outgrew being in a punk rock band. I think he wanted to change the sound of the band, which I don't mind, if the sound progresses. It was hard to get in the studio with someone who was playing songs by other bands and trying to write songs just like them. It was frustrating. It was shouting out 'identity crisis!' to me. I think it was more of a personal thing than a band thing. Now, we've made a better record than I think we've put out in the last ten years. This is the best group of Blink songs since 'blink-182'. Very modern, yet still giving the fans what Blink-182 has always been. There's a new energy, it's the greatest energy the band has felt in years." - Travis

Great lines from Travis, especially the last paragraph..woah.

 

All those quotes from Travis are great and got me even more hyped.

 

I want that shirt so bad but 19$ shipping is ouch.

 

All the quotes from Travis make me even more excited for this album. And it's nice that he still has a good word or two about tom despite how things went.

 

Also those quotes confirm that there's probably some Matt songs.

 

I personally read that quote as the songs they wrote before meeting up with Feldmann had Matt songs, and then Feldmann did a great job of merging Marks and Matts together. But I really hope there's a couple Matt heavy tracks still.

 

I'm just happy we won't get any special guests on the album.

 

Im tempted to go ahead and refund my tickets to the x games. Looks like central Texas is supposed to get 10 inches of rain by the end of the week and it's gonna be raining all day and night during Saturday. Really didn't expect there to be so much rain on the first week of June. Fucking sucks.

 

Might avoid downtown all together. Especially if it's rainy and floody.

 

I'm covering it, and it is rain or shine, so i'd assume music still goes on, events may be postponed.

 

In the meantime, did you see Travis recorded Antemasque's video for their new single? Stoked to listen to this album when it comes out as well.

 

Yeah, I'm just worried because there's flood warning and lightening.

 

At one point people were discussing how they sing the live versions of blink songs, and I can't listen to Dammit now without hearing the Kanye verse in my head, I loved that. And I'm hardly a Kanye fan lol

 

Mistake of the day; trying to argue with someone on the BTD lyric video comments who said "well blink had sagood run but it isn't the same without tom." Try to give respectful disagreement about how the new rendition is good while I still respect tom he has to go and the new song is good. Response was a rambling of how that's like saying sublime, van Halen, etc are good without their main person and, direct quote here, 'Skiba is a poser trying to fill shoes of a better artist he cannot hope to fill.'

There is no blink-182 in 2016 with Tom DeLonge.

To be clear, I dont consider anything post breakup blink to be 100% either

 

For fans of the band who want new material, it really is not.
