I’m only in an office one day of the week but I usually can’t focus unless I’m listening to ambient/more down beat music. I wish I could listen to more metal at work LOL

I find heavier music easier to listen to when working because it's generally less catchy.

Most metal is kid-friendly because you can't understand the lyrics!

    What about BABYMETAL?

If I couldn't listen to music at my landscaping job and had to listen to my internal monologue all day, I think I would genuinely lose my fucking mind.

Lol, yeah, that sounds about right. The joke is mildly amusing to me as well but it's far from the worst thing out there.

In regards to the second point, yeah, absolutely as well. I often like to imagine a dartboard of "which band to hate this week" hanging in the room of seemingly half the Shreddit population. Every Sunday they throw a dart and see which band name it lands on, and then go be super snotty about that band for that week. Ghost is on that board. And Sabaton. And Powerwolf, Cattle Decapitation, Anaal Nathrakh (mostly because their subgenre designation is the quickest way to start the metalhead equivalent of a Wild Western saloon shootout) and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head right now.

My current favorite thing about Shreddit is Sodom getting posted way too much but the mods won't blacklist it because Sodom is too good

i listen to music at work but sometimes that involves putting children's books away in a colorful children's book section and it's weird to do that and listen to metal so i save it for the more cold and calculating adult section

    RE: Music at work

I've gotten to a point at my job where people have to knock on my door regard of whether it's open or not because it's a given I'll be listening to loud music through my headphones while knee deep in an Excel spreadsheet. It keeps it from being too monotonous.

Quick review from the show I went to tonight:
    FB_IMG_1530162618241.jpg

-The downstairs part of Subterranean is quickly becoming one of my favorite spaces in Chicago...especially if the sound is mixed well (which it can be hit or miss sometimes). Tonight was one of those nights where every band sounded great.

-Vukari opened things up and is probably my favorite local black metal band. They sounded great and played a couple of new songs off their upcoming LP that they're gonna record this summer. I know I've shared them here before, but I'll recommend them to anyone who's into atmospheric black metal.

-Isenordal was a nice surprise. I didn't check them out before the show and was pleasantly blown away by their mix of funeral doom, folk, and black metal. They're a six piece with keys and a violin that was too big for the tiny stage...highly recommended if that sounds like your kinda thing. They also just put out a split with the next band...

-Void Omnia sounded fucking amazing. There's no other way to describe it and I can't really do their set justice with a description so just check them out of you like melodic black metal in the vein of Mgla and Uada.

-Of Feather and Bone was great. I need to dig into their new record a little more because it's a bit of a tonal shift from their earlier more hardcore and grind influence material. Their shift into a cavernous death metal band with a grindy chassis isn't unwelcome though. They played the entire new album and sounded almost exactly like they do on record live.

-All in all, it was a good night of dope tunes.

Downstairs at Sub T is great because it takes DIY style bills and puts them in a much nicer and more palatable environment

This encapsulates why I like it perfectly...I like it a lot more than the upstairs venue at this point by a longshot despite the fact I've seen some great shows up there during my time in Chicagoland.

It's an Amon Amarth kinda Thursday for me until @theagentcoma hits us with some deep THRASH cuts later today...hopefully.

good morning and saddle up for THRASH METAL THVRSDAY

I wouldn't say it's been a great year for thrash. It's been ok. Oxygen Destroyer is the only thrash band that have really caught my attention this year with a new album. Maybe it's because I didn't check out the Transilvania album until this morning. Black/thrash from Austria. I like what I'm hearing so far!

Now rewind to 1988. When you think of the Teutonic thrash bands, you think of Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction. But depending on who you ask, Tankard may or may not be included in that bunch. Maybe people don't think of them as much because they sing about beer/alcohol like 90% of the time, but I think they're good enough for this thread. Also lol @ the album art.

And last but not least, some Exodus for the sake of Exodus.

Thanks! I'll report back with my experience! Looking forward to Krallice, Panopticon, Dreadnought, Wovenhand, Infernal Coil, and Falls of Rauros the most. But still interested in the others live. Bill is stacked.

Oh my god, yeah, I was just thinking about that. Part of me hopes it stays that way just for the sake of the joke.

Also, more Teutonic thrash is always welcome. I'm not huge on thrash but when I am I always go for Teutonic and I need more of it in my life.
