Unless the lord is Andy Hull, then sure.

 

Andy has a lot of personal attachments to certain songs, and seems reluctant to release them in an official capacity (How I Waited, Colly Strings (official lyrics). Maybe this is another example.

Though, given that he released The Parts, he may be more able to let things go nowadays.

 

Not only has How I Waited been officially released, it's actually been officially released twice.

 

Correct. But the song was written, originally recorded, and performed well over 10 years ago.

 

He doesn’t seem afraid to speak about personal things. There was a song he performed live solo opening for Dustin Kensrue about his family, and watching football. I kinda just assumed it’d make its way out on a solo album/EP or a Bad Books record.

 

Historically, it seems like it pertains to Amy songs.

Colly Strings & How I Waited were on Amy Records originally.

That's why I said The Parts seems to show it's easier for him to let those go now.

 

Once you open yourself to certain family subject matters as a writer, it’s usually hard go back.

I get if a writer doesn’t like the song. If it’s too personal, I can’t imagine playing it live to an audience and not be ok recording it in this era where there is YouTube.

It felt charming and relatable when I heard it live. It could have been on a release with The Parts.

 

I wouldn't rule it out being on BBIII.

 

My other favorite unreleased Andy song is one I’ve got on an old bootleg, with the line “I remembered that I wanted to kill you.”

There’s a recording on YouTube, I think. I can understand not releasing it—it struck me at the time as more of an RAGC song—but it’s as raw as the Simple Math stuff, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from that time period.
