  1. It should change I agree but it never will. Some people have hated the concept dating all the way back to Justin.tv

small indie companies literally pay streamers with a large fan base to play their games in front of thousands of people, which is fine. I’ve found a lot of cool games this way.

Even if they found a way to manage it or restrict it, those same people would continue to make absolutely insane amounts of money off of some other game.

That's ignorant to say it never will change. No one knows the future, mate. Don't be like that.

And good for those streamers I guess? Let them go find other games. Restrictions should be put in place. If you have a spent all that time and money making a game that's basically your passion project just for someone else to receive the profit, that's fucked up. End of discussion. If I wrote a book and the whole thing was leaked online, I'd shut it down. Same principal. I was thrilled when Atlus blocked people from streaming Persona 5.

  3. It’s pretty hard to feel bad for companies worth billions and billions of dollars.

It’s not ignorant to say at all. Streaming is just going to continue to grow. It’s more mainstream now than it’s ever been. Streamers don’t particularly bother me. Now someone cutting up and creating a 60 minute YouTube video of a games cutscenes is pretty damn ridiculous.

  4. And for every one company that tries to restrict a game being streamed/etc

There’s twenty more companies giving streamers early access to their games so they can show them off early.

I'm surprised they can't put up a copyright infringement on people streaming their games if they don't want them to. Why is that not a thing?

i usually don't have the time or energy to fully dive into a game, so i like watching people play. if it looks fun, i would get the game. i also watch a lot of overwatch because it's easy to pick up and watch idk. i also don't have the patience to lose all the time, so it's more fun to watch people win lol

I legitimately just said this doesn't just have to do with AAA companies. A lot of indies have complained about this as well. I forgot they're billion dollar companies...my bad. Maybe invest some time and research into something before you speak nonsense.

That's not how things work. "Man, this cheesecake was delicious, guess I'll pay for it, otherwise I wouldn't have."

  10. Do you know how many indie companies work directly with streamers? A lot.

They use them for advertisement purposes. A lot of them do sit downs with streamers for Q and A’s about whatever game.

I’m sure it hurts some of them. Yeah

“Invest time and research”. The article you linked is a walking advertisement for God of War. And everyone knows they aren’t hurting for money

I think it's fair to say that we won't agree on this. Mostly because you're ignorant, but also because you're stubborn when it comes to learning facts.

Huh? I usually don't have much expendable income, so I like to shop around before I buy. I also don't watch the entire gameplay to spoil myself...

lol you call other people ignorant once a day at this point

surely it's everyone else that is ignorant, and not the guy that's been talked to by the mods

I get that, I really do. Video games are an expensive hobby. And I mean, it's one thing if you're watching trailers and game play released by the company and another if you are watching a let's play. You shouldn't be able to choose your levels of involvement in the experience. You shouldn't be able to watch 90% of the game, not like the twist and then bail. That's what I'm saying.

It's because some people work in the industry and it's their livelihood and feel cheated by people who have found ways to profit off a broken system.
