got to play 20 minutes of spiderman yesterday, it literally felt like heaven. If it wasnt for RE2 it would be my most anticipated game of the next 12 monthjs

The whole Fortnite account thing

 

Haha well they should feel stupid for it. Their complete aversion to cross play is troubling. I've seen a lot of people online said they'll bounce to X1 because they can link accounts and such or whatever.

 

I think switching consoles for one game is goofy. Especially a fad game at that.

They probably mean for that one game. It's free so very easy to just play it on a different console. If people are buying new consoles for Fortnite they're insane, lol.

I'm hoping all the ruckus will cause Sony to change their minds though and open up to cross platform play.

 

I get you and probably agree overall, but it's not just one game. This has been a problem with Sony all generation with every game that offers cross play. They'll allow it with PC, but block everything else. I can vaugely understand why they do it, but it's annoying when such a cool feature is just blocked on their console, especially when Devs seem so up for it. I remember the Rocket League devs stating that it's as simple as flicking a switch to turn cross play on, but that Sony wouldn't allow them.

Then the Fortnite thing is a whole different thing. Blocking access to a third party account because someone happened to have played a game a single time on a different platform is fucking bullshit. But we all know that, so I don't really need to add anything .

 

the crossplay restrictions and the lack of backwards compat are really the only spots where Sony gets dunked on anymore, if they shed those both for next gen and offer something competitively priced they're gonna make a (nother) killing

 

It's not just one game, Sony has had problems with cross play in the past with other titles like Rocket League and I think Minecraft as well. They just refuse to let people interact outside of their console ecosystem which is fucking stupid. If I can play my game on my PS4 and play with my friend on Xbox that would be great because I fucking hate Xbox but really still want to be able to play with them.

 

I hope they announce full backwards compatibility next gen just to fucking slam dunk on Xbox.

 

Sony dose have somewhat of backwards compatibility if you get PlayStation now. There’s ps2 and I think ps1 games up there. Sony will never have backwards compatibility with ps3 games they came out and said that years ago when the ps4 launched cuz of the cell technology they used in the ps3

 

I don’t care at all about backwards compatibility and find it baffling when people consider it a big win for xbox

 

It's like some people think it's such a burden to keep old consoles. Like if I want to play a ps3 or 360 game, I'll play them on my ps3 or 360 lol
