Hereditary’s so scary it takes over other movies’ threads.

Some crazy theories in the YouTube comment section...

One of the British filmmakers is a grandson/granddaughter of Dr. Loomis?

Laurie herself sabatoged the prisoner transport so that she could have her chance at killing Michael?

Looks good. Here for more Michael Myers, always

  8. Alright, so this franchise is the main big horror franchise that I’ve never really taken a dive into, I think except for like H20 a very long time ago. Since it seems like this addition is mixing some of the plot laid out in previous chapters, which are the ones I should watch before this one comes out?

This only follows the events of the original Halloween. Its first sequel established that Laurie and Michael are siblings but looks like this one ignores that.

The only ones you should skip are 3 and Resurrection IMO

I will be @‘ed for fans of 3 but yea, I stand by that lol

    My top 4 ranking:

    Halloween > Halloween 3 > Halloween 2 > Halloween I (Zombie’s)

What I would suggest you watch before this one would be Halloween, Halloween 2, and Zombies first Halloween. Halloween 3 is great but is not related to Michael’s story

I would say watch in this order so you can at least get the gist of the story that followed Laurie Strode:

    Halloween (1978)
    Halloween II
    Halloween H20
Halloween: Resurrection (This one is pretty bad, but it's entertaining to say the least.)

Halloween III is a self-contained story that was meant to push the Halloween series in a different direction, but that never materialized and they brought Michael back in Halloween 4. Halloween 4, 5, and The Curse... are chronological and follow Jamie, a daughter Laurie had and gave up for adoption while she faked her own death. They're not great, but if you enjoyed those first 4 I listed then check those out solely for the Michael kills.

    Don't watch Rob Zombie's movies.

    Hard disagree.

It’s a different take on it. Much more dark, disturbing, psychological.

We out here recommending H20 and Resurrection but not the Zombie films???

Watch them all, I assume they'll be some pretty fun easter eggs for the series. There's already H3 stuff in the trailer

I’m a really big fan of the first Zombie film. Sure it has some absolutely unneeded moments, but it’s certainly gory, disturbing, dark, and keeps me entertained.

I liked the childhood angle. It’s not original or groundbreaking, but was an interesting take.

I thought Rob Zombies second one was unbearably bad, the first was pretty enjoyable but I liked absolutely nothing about the second. It's been a while though, I should rewatch em

An overabundance of profanity, lack of showers for the cast, and turning everyone into a sexual pervert/fuck up alcoholic isn't suspenseful or entertaining or thrilling. It's just what Rob Zombie likes to do in movies.

The elements in his first remake which were good or at the very least decent, was all stuff Carpenter had laid out for him. The reason why the original was so amazing was because of the suspense and cinematography. None of that is applied in those remakes.

What did Zombie bring to add to original story? Michael doing things he's never done in other movies that made no sense. Like football tackles and beating a kid to death with a stick. Grunting and yelling. Oh, and i'm pretty sure the kids call Michael a "f****t" for no reason. Joe Grizzly scene? stupid, terrible. I think he also tossed in a rape scene too just because he's Rob Zombie. His wife can't act either, yet she of course gets as much screen time as Michael in both films.

All around god awful. I hope that if anyone chooses to watch those, they've seen the original films first.

I think the beginning of Zombie’s film is a bit eye rolling, I remember thinking how typical for zombie to have some white trash family, but the movie really finds its footing after that and they’re are a lot of beautiful shots that look and feel like the original. Idk what happened with his H2, I agree that movie is terrible.

From what I recall I like the film, but I also can easily say every single one of your issues with it are valid. I definitely would not argue it compares to the original, and hopefully no one views these first. I'd have to imagine someone who has never seen a Halloween film would understand there is a nostalgic hype to these and it didn't get to this point from the sequels and remakes. For example, I've never really seen much of the Freddy Krueger films, but I would know the recent remakes shouldn't be my first glimpse.

I also think if I saw the first Zombie film today for my first time I would hate it. Haven't re-watched in a few years. I'm sure once the new film comes out I'll give a big ol' "seeeeeeeeya" to the Zombie films.
