i dont get why everyone's downplaying just how bad the lyrics on this album are. "they're there on every album" is just a bad excuse, there aren't lyrics nearly as bad as the ones here on any kanye album. as for your other points i personally dont see it whatsoever.

Yeah but when the shit he's getting off his chest is trite and problematic and poorly written and over garageband ass generic beats with hastily thrown in hooks that don't build to anything... does it matter?

"Bad" Kanye lines used to be corny as shit, not prayers about not getting "#Metooed" and controlling his daughter's sexuality.

exactly. there's a sharp difference between the bad lines here and the bad lines on, say, MBDTF.

I love No Mistakes. Ghost Town is alright. Everything else is just...there. Pretty boring.

I got a song and a half in and decided to not listen anymore. Listening to the new Anthony Green instead.

at this point in his career the worst thing kanye west can be, musically, is boring. and that's exactly what this album is.

It's fine. There's decent musical ideas here. He didn't spend enough time on it. Won't listen to it much. Sad how far he's fallen as an artist, hopefully he pulls it together for next week with Cudi.

Honestly for me this goes past boring into straight bad but boring works too

This is easily his worst album, without any debate. A 7 song Kanye album should be amazing all the way through, but you can tell that this was just kind of thrown together over the last few weeks. I can't really see a reason to listen to this when I could just listen to Daytona instead. Kind of happy because I don't have to think too much about how I feel about listening to it in light of all of Kanye's recent shit, but obviously a bummer that this is what's become of one of the greatest musicians of a generation.

Exactly what I was thinking. His singing is the only thing that’s almost as bad as Kanye’s lyrics.

I didn't feel that way, but then I just listened to it once. The only tracks I liked were "Wouldn't Leave" and "Violent Crimes" though.

he sounds pretty rough and really out of key

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

the line about how he can't beat his daughter because she might leave for a guy who would beat her some more and treats it like some sort of inconvenience is just

    jesus fucking christ kanye

On my third listen, and I'm very disappointed with this.

I do enjoy Yikes and Violet Crimes though.

    reading the lyrics on genius

I Thought About Killing You - This reads like poetry by a 14 year old who went through a phase where they thought Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were """""misunderstood""""".

Yikes - "Russell Simmons want to pray for me too, I'mma pray for him 'cause he got #MeToo'ed, thinkin' what if that happened to me, too? Then I'm on E! News" This is garbage misogynistic bullshit and taken in full context with his Bill Cosby Innocent tweet and collaborations with R. Kelly, I think it's safe to say Kanye West doesn't care about women (I know the last time he worked with R. Kelly was like 5 years ago but does anyone really think Kanye's thoughts on R. Kelly's accusations are particularly progressive)

All Mine - Kanye talks about women the same way Donald Trump does.

Wouldn't Leave - If he's saying "Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day" in regards to the "Slavery was a choice" comment, does that mean he's like, a Holocaust denier or something?

No Mistakes - I have no idea what this song is about and I don't feel like trying to look into it more

Ghost Town - This made me think of the mountain of controversy Kanye had before MBDTF and what an in depth, nuanced, complex, and personal response MBDTF was to all that, how he responded in such painful, great lengths. This album is....... . not that

Violent Crimes - Eminem did wack, creepy, regressive, violent possessiveness over his daughter way better than this like 15 years ago, and Eminem sucks too so that means this is pretty godawful

lets discuss how many layers of fucked up this line is

Don't do no yoga, don't do pilates
Just play piano and stick to karate
I pray your body's draped more like mine and not like your mommy's

manages to shame both his daughter and his wife at the same time
