  2. I skipped through the podcast until they finally brought up his departure from TBS:

BASICALLY... Being on the road constantly took its told on Eddie. He wasn't able to watch his kids grow up, and it all started breaking up his family and his marriage. He became an alcoholic and withdrew from everybody because of it. "A lot of inner demons." The TBS guys had his back and supported him, but it came to a point where Eddie had to walk away so he could get help. He went to rehab, got a sponsor, and is a regular at AA meetings. He loves the TBS guys and he feels he'll always be in the band in his heart. Eddie's sobriety is strong, and he's ready to get back on the road with his new band with 4 other professional dudes who have gone through the same thing (which has a name, but they aren't revealing it until they have music out.) They have 7 songs written, and they're recording them soon.

That's the worst part of all of this, I hope everything is still ok on that front and getting better.

I think it's really easy for us to forget what some of our favorite musicians sacrifice for our entertainment. Leaving families, kids, etc. for weeks/months to go out and make a living and entertain us is crazy. I can respect the heck out of anyone who realizes it's not for them and needs to get back with their family.

He also mentioned that he’s hopeful to rejoin TBS one day again, at least on stage.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

It was good to hear that he’s in good spirits and that it wasn’t an bitter parting with the band. I’m glad he’s getting help and working on improving his situation.

It's A Secret To Everyone Prestigious

i was hoping Eddie would just be a studio member and maybe just write/record the albums so he can stay home from touring to be with his family!
or did he need to step back from the band completely for his treatment?

I could definitely see this happening at some point down the line, but I think he wants to only focus on himself and his family for a while until he gets his life back in order.
Kudos to the band for handling it the way they did too, and not saying anything about it outside of the statement they put out. I only say that because of their history of members coming and going, they probably knew that there would be all kinds of shitty rumors and speculations. I imagine it was frustrating to hear those things while they're friend is going through some personal stuff.

i'm surprised they didn't just continue to ignore it like they had the last year or so.

I’m sure they weren’t ignoring it and moreso respecting his privacy

Did Eddie mention who the other musicians are he's playing with currently? Are they other well known musicians or are they just friends?

The fact that anyone would say they were ‘ignoring’ it after reading that interview is completely asinine.

Just friends, he named them in the pod, but no one recognizable outside of potentially their local scenes

don't think its asinine. as someone who follows the band very closely, it was very apparent something was going on and they didn't make any mention of him. even a simple "Eddie won't be with us for awhile as he deals with personal issues" would have been great. rather than just going to shows and him not playing at all for what felt like over a year. he deserves every bit of privacy he needs, but the band just straight up didn't address it.

with that being said, happy he is healthy and happy the band is supporting him and they are all still friends. it would be a shame if they weren't.

They didn’t owe us an explanation, and perhaps Eddie wasn’t decided on what he was doing. Sorry, but no.

I’d imagine a majority of the people at their shows, especially those who haven’t heard the last like 4 records, have no idea who he is. Sad, yes, but I think we sometimes overestimate the importance of a band addressing things like this to the general audience.

i think more of my point is people are just saying this cause its Eddie, which is unfair. if a year went by and someone was filling in for John people would be going apeshit. would we still not deserve an explanation?

In a situation like this one? Yes they still wouldn’t owe us an explanation

maybe i said it wrong, i don't think any of us deserve the details. Eddie is more than entitled to his privacy and deserves the time to get better.

i just more of meant a "hey Eddie's gonna be gone for a little" kind of thing.

I mean, for all we know they didn’t know when Eddie would or wouldn’t be there. Maybe it was always left in the air. Truth it’s we don’t know what was going on

He didn’t do the entirety of the tour they did last summer with every time I die and they never mentioned his absence. They didn’t have to say anything specific, but I agree that it was weird it was left entirely unmentioned. They didn’t mention that Nathan was filling in for him temporarily. It was weird. We all said it was. We were all speculating here about what was going on and wondering why they didn’t say anything. Everybody’s singing a different tune now.

it's weird because they have gone into detail with nearly every other band members extended absences. When adam's child was born premature and he had to leave their tour they posted it everywhere, which i think would be a super sensitive and private family matter (although i guess he is much more noticeably missing since hes the singer....), but Mark took an extended medical absence years ago and they kept everyone updated about it, I think even john left briefly for family issues as well and again, it was explained. Eddie's unexplained absence is only odd because of the precedent they set in the past about explaining these things, granted eddie's situation (and any of their personal situations) is none of our business and we probably feel way more entitled than we should be for an explanation, but, them not addressing it was weird.

but maybe we can move past this all now and get hype for the summer tour and future releases
