That report must be significantly worse than expected. Starr would've made for an incredibly convenient fall guy, so letting Briles go means they knew they'd have absolutely no choice.

"Earlier today, Baylor announced the firing of football coach Art Briles, the reassignment of the school president, and that the AD has been placed on probation — all stemming from a sexual assault scandal that seemingly continues to get worse by the minute.

ESPN television analyst Kirk Herbstreit joined SportsCenter this afternoon to discuss the situation and didn’t hold back, but even went as far to say that he’d “never been more disrespected in my entire career” during a recent trip to campus.

Herbstreit says he was “called out” by Baylor’s strength and conditioning coach for saying that TCU was a better team the previous year, which got a rise out of the players, who were “hooting and hollering” at him following the comments."

Edit: Unrelated, but also an absolute joke - Baylor telling incoming freshman they won't be released from their LOIs. Get us out of this conference.

 

Baylor isn't releasing incoming LOI's? That's shocking, if true..

 

This is a HUGE issue with LOIs though. If there's any sort of personnel change, they should be able to look elsewhere - as long as they haven't started at the school. This happened to Mike Weber last year when Ohio State's RB coach bailed after signing day.

 

Return of a Championship game in the Big 12 is nice.

 

I don't mind the Big XII bringing the Title game back. Not sure there's enough evidence to conclude that the Conference is in any way disadvantaged without one, but it can't hurt. Glad Bowlsby is moving the expansion timeline along, too.

 

I wish they'd balance things so every conference could just do 9 team round robin.

 

Baylor donors trying to bring Briles back in 2017 and have this be a one-year suspension. Technically, he has not been relieved as coach. He is still suspended even though the first round of voting was 18-15 to terminate. Apparently the big donors are trying to rally the troops, but the majority seem to understand he needs to go.

While that is happening, some players who are in the process of trying to clear their names from cases, or have cleared their names, are being let go of their scholarships.
