Me too for sure. Outside of things like Flogging Molly and TGUK not having Chicago dates, there isn’t anything being thrown around that excites me at all. Unless they really have managed to keep everything a total secret I’m afraid I may be really let down for the first time.

We ruled out Modest Mouse, right? Their fall tour kicks off in Wisconsin 9/17.

EDIT: Never mind, they're playing Waukegan (North Chicago) on the 22nd.

I mean, if they had Rom Zombie play an album... I can see it as a possibility.

I think there's still some acts in play that we're probably not thinking of that might be of interest, and plenty of "punk" bands in the mix (specifically from the 90s) that could sway me... But there's either a big surprise for headliners or it's going to be a dud for me.

Still holding out hope for something cool, though!

Yup. They're out. And playing Waukegan, IL on 9/22.

The Joy Formidable / Tancred are both out, they're coming to Chicago in November.

I know their Twitter guy is just messing around, but what if they actually got ABBA?

Either they’re trying to tell us something or they’re purposely using Hump Day as a way to screw with everyone.

Pretty sure they're just screwing with everyone. Haha. Until I see a tweet that says "line-up coming tomorrow at 10am CST" I'm not convinced it's coming. Although, as of yesterday, we're officially within the "around the time it usually gets announced" time frame...

My best bet is early to mid next week at this point.

Fuck yeah! Lagwagon apparently has some announcements coming up to "commemorate this song, this album" in the "coming months." They're announcing something today that's TBA (I'm guessing it's a 7-inch and a repress of the LP).

But I'm also feeling like there's going to be some more Let's Talk About Feelings album shows in the works. I'm still feeling really strong about them being a Riot Fest band/album play this year.

dying for it to be announced, i have 2 shows coming up i have been looking at going to, but was hoping to save money by skipping if 1 or both happened to be at Riot (Ghost & Bone thugz n' harmony...respectively). Getting to close for comfort, will probably just pull the trigger.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Red Fang just announced a tour with 9/15 free with dates in Omaha on 9/14 and Madison on 9/16. They seemed liked they'd be a decent heavy fit with their sweet stoner metal jamz.

Red Fang is playing Wicker Park Festival too. Different day than AM, Dave Hause, and Sincere Engineer. OWTH is also playing that festival too.

If they play WPF, that means they'd technically be out of contention for Riot Fest based on the radius clause. It's still odd they'd have a Saturday opening on a headlining tour, but IDK.

The way you frame it definitely seems like Riot would make sense. My info is coming from some members of bands playing WPF so I have no reason not to believe it.

Was Guided By Voices ruled out? They play Chicago a LOT, but don’t have any Chicago shows lined up this year yet

I don't think so. I just checked tour dates, and you're right -- no Chicago dates. I'd say they're viable, and would readily fit in that mid-afternoon Built to Spill slot last year.

And actually, has Superchunk played Chicago recently?

I’ve been out of the loop for a while, do we have any “almost certain” bands other than Liz Phair at this point?

^I've been trying to keep a running list going. We don't have a ton, but the people in the lock and highly possible seem pretty certain, in my opinion at least.

Between The Longshot & Scars on Broadway, is 2018 the year of the side project? Pretty cool to possibly get both Billie Joe and Daron on the line up without taking up headlining spots.

Idk but if it is, I can't think of a better place for Justin Pierre to debut his new project.

This is something that has never crossed my mind, but would honestly be very fitting.

    Holy shit, is this up-to-date!

The Longshot would be cool. But personally, I'd rather it be "the year of the side project... with the main band playing as well." Haha. I don't necessarily need to see System of a Down again... But if I can see TOOL/A Perfect Circle and Green Day/The Longshot in the same weekend? That would rule.

I'd add Yo La Tengo under the "highly possible" column at least given yesterday's tour announcement for them.

And At the Drive-In cancelled their May Chicago tour date last year once they were announced for Riot. I was a tad pissed about that since I'd rather have seen them indoors as opposed to Riot Fest, but I digress...
