I can get by with winter/summer dedicated wheels & tires here close to Philadelphia, I can't imagine trying that in Winnipeg with a Miata haha.

I'd probably get the automatic Mazda3 because 1) I'd be buying used and there's like only 1% manuals for sale across the country, and 2) I need a car my girlfriend can drive and she can't drive stick. If that's the case then I'd probably get a used older Miata beater down the line for a fun car.

I've owned an automatic Mazda3 for 5 years now. Love the car and am absolutely 100% happy with it.

    No issues.

I need to start researching cars. I'd like to get something new or almost new. Over used cars that require so much in repairs and upkeep it's not worth it. I'm practical so I just want something that gets good mileage and maybe can get around ok in the snow. And something where I can actually hear my music while on the highway and not just rumble and wind. Otherwise idgaf.

Depending on your budget and what you may want, there’s a lot of good stuff out there. Pro tip: you don’t need to buy an AWD vehicle for snow. Any car with a set of snow tires will do wonders.

Yeah I'm not picky with cars i just want practical and reliable. And tbh I don't totally trust myself to actually get snow tires put on my car because I am dumb and lazy lol. But AWD isn't a necessity just a nice plus. I thought I could bite the bullet and buy new, but I have such a hard time with copious amounts of debt so I'm struggling! My budget also depends on my job search so it makes it hard to search seriously

Yeah, I understand. I started looking for new vehicles almost 5 years ago. I’d probably also recommend not buying new unless you can absolutely not care about eating depreciation. Buying a year or few year old car either certified or with a warranty is the way to go.

I’d probably recommend a 2014 Subaru Impreza if you want the AWD. the 2014s and newer get like 27 city /36 highway which is a pretty decent bump from previous models, have a hatchback option, can be found between 10-16k with under 60k-ish miles and hold their value well. Plus 2014s won’t have standard things like lane assist that could be costly to repair if broken. They’re safe and reliable, too. It’s at least a place to start.

Thanks! I started off looking at new and yeah I don't think I can do it but as long as it's just a few years old with not too many miles I'm game. It's hard for me to buy a car cause I feel it immediately goes down and value and slowly breaks down and that makes me sad lol. We also don't have a ton of dealers around so it's gonna be a whole process I'm not looking forward to but oh well worth it if I can drive again

Going to buy this weekend. Looking for a small SUV and have my choices narrowed down to a CRV, RAV4, Tiguan and Encore. Probably going to lease.

Buy an older Toyota. They last forever. I get jealous when I see people driving around paid off Toyotas with more than 200,000 miles on the odo.

There is a 2013 Toyota corolla I was looking at. It has about 47,000 miles on it. Which is like the least miles I've found in my price range lol. Everything else is in the 100k+ miles and im like dang how can ppl drive that much in just a few years??? I was also looking at a 2012 Honda civic with 57k miles. But idk. My last car caught on fire so I get super nervous looking at cars now lol.

chances of that corolla or civic catching on fire are really low imo. Good luck lol.

Lol thanks! I never expected any car to randomly catch on fire unless I was in an action movie so now idk what to believe!!

Both of those cars should be dead reliable and easy to maintain and fix. The Civic will get better gas mileage, though. That year Corolla still has a 4-speed auto, while the Civic has a 5-speed.

Now I'm looking at a 2014 Toyota prius with 46.7k miles. This is so overwhelming like. How do ppl do this?? I should've gone to school for something car related.
