If Crash and Spyro actually get announced for Smash and if it's true that Pokemon for Switch is a Red/Blue remake then I'll be fine with no virtual console.

I do not want a red/blue remake unless it has more Pokémon than just the original 151.

Yeah there's really nothing that would make me ok with no VC beyond something unrealistic like having more than just NES games on the online service. It's just a head-scratchingly dumb decision. People want to throw money at Nintendo, money they'd be getting for expending literally no effort, and they're just like "Nah, we're good." Was really hoping to give Nintendo money for GameCube games on Switch, potentially. Makes no sense whatsoever from a business perspective.

Yeah I want GCN games more than anything. That system WAS my childhood. I would love for them to re-release gamecube game physically. I'd def pay $20 for a Switch port of Super Mario Sunshine or really a number of different games. Again, easy money for them so I'm not sure their motive for not capitalizing on it.

They did hint pretty strongly at the fact that there will be continued ports/"collections" of older games. I'm thinking we will see a lot of the games we were hoping for hit the console eventually, just probably not on the timeline we wanted

As much as I want to revisit those games (especially a bunch off of gamecube, fuck) they do seem like they're sinking a lot of effort into making sure new first party titles are living up to expectations, and so far they have been which is not something Nintendo has been overly successful with for a while. I am notoriously easy on them as a company but I think it's one of those instances where we should just be happy with what we're getting

You can be happy with what we're getting for sure! I'm not though. It won't take any effort away from new games because it won't take any effort at all. So there's really no adequate explanation here, it's just a bizarre decision that makes zero business sense.

  9. I’m actually pretty stoked about the value proposition of getting 20+ NES games with online play for $20

It's cool but why does having that mean we don't get the Virtual Console for the first time, console or handheld, since the Wii? Like, it should be both, no?

  11. Idk, why does it mean that? VC was a means by which to get old Nintendo games on consoles. Nintendo is dropping SMB, SMB3, and TLOZ on our doorsteps in September with online features added and promising more to come. It’s clear that they’re switching up the distribution method this time and I’m cool with seeing where that goes after launch day.

I’m assuming they’ll add SNES and N64 games later

I'm not the one saying it means that, everyone using that as the response to why there can't be both is implying that. It's a good value as a perk for the service but that has nothing to do with the Virtual Console not existing anymore. One isn't a rebuttal to the other, is my point. They can be praised for giving us NES games on demand as part of the service while also criticized for not giving their customers what they've been clamoring for since the Switch launched re: Virtual Console.

Virtual Console as we know it may be down, but I’m not writing off Nintendo Classic as of now. Nothing is none besides a post that has a chance of being incorrect.

Please let Pokémon games be apart of the GBA games available.

Pokémon potentially being a red/blue remake has me so excited. That’s basically the only way I’d buy it. I’m not getting involved if it has all the new generations.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I'd rather they include newer generations because we've already gotten a red/blue remake and I'd prefer a new experience than revisiting the same game for another time

Remake definitely isn’t happening. I’m willing to bet money that post is fake.

post might be fake but remakes are happening, and they're definitely including mons up to 7th gen.

Another Red/Blue remake would be lame for sure. It would be interesting if they wanted to set the game across, say, Johto and Kanto (or any of the other regions we've previously been to), only further in the future. And throw in new Pokémon plus ones from later Gens as well. But a straight remake of any of the older games for Switch would be a waste.

Well I wouldn’t want a remake. More of a reimagining. Along with a hopefully reimaged style of play for the whole game. That’s my hope anyways.

For me, I hope they continue to push the franchise forward after Sun and Moon.

if gameplay for a new pokemon game remains the same as it's always been, no thanks. a new storyline and updated graphics just don't do it for me.

(Also this is why some sort of digital internet platform for purchasing and playing classic games, a sort of "Virtual Console," if you will, would be nice. Crazy concept, I know, but that way they could just put out the originals or Fire Red and Leaf Green on it while also pushing the franchise forward with the new title and everyone would be happy)

gameplay for pokemon will never change
