Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

John Legend being that supportive uncle who doesn't buy into what his nephew is saying at all but pretends to vibe with it because he's John Legend.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Potentially hot take: I respect the intention behind YeVTP if not the music. He's clearly rushed it out in one day with whoever was around as kind of damage control (so quality-wise it's the Facts of this album cycle) but it's coming from a place of at least acknowledging his fan's concerns and trying to address them.

Of course, having said that, he's doing it in the most half baked political speak and through the format of a song that's musically fucking trash. So it's not a slam dunk by any means. But at the very least it's coming from a good place.

I would love if all of his new MAGA Twitter-repliers started bumping Lift Yourself pretending they liked it because that's what they thought rap was

  11. hilarious that, it turns out, the poopty doopty whoop song was much better than the real one

It still does not sound good, even without a DJ screaming over it

Sounds like Ye’s trying to reappropriate “MAGA”

which is a dumb dumb idea that he's not even articulating well

He's just aligning himself with all the bullshit and hatred Trump has brought into the world

I still don’t see where he is aligning myself. I’ve been following twitter/forums/Ye. I see a disconnect in what’s he’s saying and what people are suggesting that he is saying.

I mean, my opinions are just going to piss people off again. So I’m trying to just lurk but I’m just seeing this differently. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

I was a dick a few days ago, came off hostile. But I still see it the same.

I think it’s pretty clear that in Trump, he sees himself: a brash asshole who says whatever half baked ideas are in their skull while everyone else says they shouldn’t be allowed into the positions they’re pursuing, but Trump became President so to Kanye, that’s a reinforcement that he can and should pursue his own ambitions

Yup, and Kanye completely ignores anything outside of what he sees in himself. So all the pain, violence, even just the corruption and incompetence, don't matter. He's ignoring the manipulation of these far right conspiracy theorists too, he's in an ego trap.

Sounds to me like he’s trying to combat MAGA with positivity and love. Something obviously very foreign to a lot of people. It’s like it doesn’t compute.

what fucking disconnect? He's aligning himself with a party that strives to alienate marginalized people because he's privileged enough to not experience the consequences firsthand. He's a coward and a fucking idiot.

    You’re missing the point.

I don’t gather that Kanye has one single bad intention. Which makes it impossible for me to just cast him aside like trash. Is it rubbing people the wrong way? Obviously. But I see him preaching positivity. And I see people wanting to cancel him. That’s called a disconnect.

You’re also talking about the guy who literally just announced yesterday philanthropy efforts to help the Southside of Chicago. Right.

Nah, he has bad intentions. He's either faking controversy in the name of album sales or he actually believes the shit he's saying and in either case he is trash. Preaching positivity? I can't even
