Yeah, he left to work on "Parks and Rec," so I think we won there.

If I could just forget it

Kelly's arc in 1-3 was weird. Michael was much more like David Brent in season 1, but those episodes also pulled a lot from the UK version.

They straight up copied the UK's first episode

I've never watched the UK version either, I'll have to check it out. But yeah I noticed that Michael was far more of a blatant asshole in the earlier episodes and then became more of a blithering, ignorant idiot but still trying his best to be a nice guy.

I can't stand the UK version.

I bought the whole UK series on DVD after falling in love with the US Office... I think I made it 6 episodes. I had to have the subtitles on. No real desire to revisit. I did like Gervais’s Extras show.

Is it that hard to understand their British accents? I've never had an issue understanding people on The Graham Norton show or the guys on Top Gear/Grand Tour anyways lol.

It was for me... but also when I tried to watch Deadwood I also had to have the subtitles on.

Waiting for this baby to come out and watching The Office on Comedy Central right now... had no idea Dunder Mifflin Infinity was an early season 4 episode. Feels like this would’ve been at least season 6 quality.

I watch almost everything with subtitles on just because I'm bad at catching things

    I use subtitles for everything.

To clarify on an earlier post, I find Gervais annoying and unfunny in general, so I wasn’t surprised I didn’t like the UK version.

Comedy is the only genre I don’t put on subtitles for. Seeing the punchline to a joke in the subtitles before it’s actually delivered on screen ruins it for me.

Season 2 is peak Jim/Dwight, season 3 is peak Pan(m) and season 4 is peak Michael for me. Everything else just tests my faith and loyalty

UK Office is a downright perfect series.

    US Office is not.

UK Office is the skim milk to US Office’s chocolate milk.

US Office is a little indulgent and has a number of lower quality episodes, but is ultimately a much more decadent and delicious experience.

UK Office is brief and gives you what you need but is quite bland.

Oh I forgot to say this is just my opinion.

    US season 1-3 > UK 1-2 & Special

The UK version is very good and deserves a lot of credit (obviously), but ultimately the degree to which Jam and Pam are better characters than Tim and Dawn makes it not close. Michael is a better character than David as well, but given how much early season Michael is just playing the same character, it doesn't feel like a fair point in favor of the US version if I'm using the end of season 3 as a cutoff. (Which I feel like is necessary, because "the US version went on too long and got sucky" is a boring way to decide which is better.)

    Gareth > Dwight
