I don't need to sit through five local openers on a three band tour on a Tuesday night. Gimme a solid three band lineup so I can get out of there by 11 PM.

 

You clearly haven't seen a two hour Sunn O))) set then.

 

Now that I'm getting older, a 3 band bill that ends at 10PM is the DREAM.

 

The one time I saw Alter Bridge headlining it was a two band bill but Alter Bridge played 18 songs. Same with Dream Theater it was a two band bill and they were on for almost three hours...so about five songs

Most shows in my city end by 10:00 due to curfew, but since most have 4 bands doors are like 5:30

 

but how can anyone with a 9-5 job ever make that?

 

Yeah, it sucks, but y'know, it's usually a 6:00/6:30 show time, so if you factor in a local opener it's usually not undoable.

Pick one. I don't think I've ever left a 5+ band bill going "I can't believe they pulled out that song!" 3 band bills I have.

 

Having to sit through them to finally catch Rainer Maria live after 15 years felt like hell. Ha.

 

3 band bills are a bit short unless it's a coheadliner or the headliner plays around 90 mins and the direct support plays at least 45 mins.

4 band bills are ideal

5 are fine as long as the first is just a pre-show doors filler

 

5 band bills should not exist
4 band bills are exhausting
3 band bills are ideal
2 band bills are good if the opener does 40

 

I can't think of any show I've seen with more than 3 bands minus festival or charity shows, most shows I see are one band with an opener which I'm fine with

 

It's sad to see a 6-7 band tour package hit up dive bars. Your draw is THAT piss poor that you need all of these extra bands to help fill out a 100 cap room?

 

and it just splits the money even more too

that's more on the promoters than the bills

 

Most Deathcore shows I attend are like 6 bands for some reason, but the headliner usually only does 50-60 minutes so it's not that bad.

I'm going to a show next week. The tour lineup is Carnifex/Oceano/Winds Of Plague/Archspire/Spite/Shadow Of Intent/Buried Above Ground. The only bands I want to see are Carnifex, Archspire, and Shadow Of Intent. Considering the order of the bill, I can't show up late or leave early if I want to catch all those.

I love all day fests that are clearly billed as fests, but club tours that start at 5 and run until 11 are really stretching the limits of what can be called just a show.

 

i'm honestly surprised that the norva got the offer for the attila/suicide silence show/fest. it's 1450 cap, and this being on a saturday will help sales. a weeknight it'd do piss poor, maybe 600.. but i'm sure saturday it will probably pull 1200.

virginia beach has been doing well too as far as these type of shows.

 

It seems most people in this thread have never heard of a guarantee.

2 band bills where I like both bands and they both play good length sets are great.

 

Do shows seriously end before 10pm where you live? I've never been to a show in Toronto that ended at 10pm. Might be because its a bigger city?

 

A lot of shows here end by 10 on friday/saturday night if the venues have a club night on afterwards.

(I love 10pm finishes lol)
