Would a band make more if they are independent? Attila recently went independent so would overall costs go down?

they're probably doing well, but someone like ATL has also sold a ton of records and a ton of merch and have a bunch of big record deals/tours/stuff like that. but like, they aren't like, making millions and millions yearly or anything.

i mean, alex also writes songs for other bands, which helps as well.

As a business student, I’m fascinated by the ways in which bands could cut costs to save money. Attila is trash, but they draw well. They could play those same size venues, with two openers and charge the same price. It doesn’t make sense for them to stack the bill that big, albeit they’re probably paying the first two openers $50/show.

Also Attila likes to tour in top of the line busses with their faces and logo wrapped around it. I doubt many random interstate drivers take the time to check out what is obviously the worlds coolest band. /s

But for real, I think Bandwagon have made a great business out of “economical comfort” touring vehicles, and it makes sense why a lot of bands are moving towards those. Plus I think a lot of bands are taking advantage of the whole VIP package experience. Seems like some easy money.

One thing though that a lot of people don’t realize about a lot of performance contracts is that it’s not uncommon for bands to take a percentage of bar sales instead of a higher guarantee. I can’t say for bands like a Attila where many fans are under 21, but for older bands I can see the payoff.

Also, you have bands like Hundredth who are basically a traveling clothing company who plays music. Apparently they make a shit load in merch sales at their gigs.

Also Attila have a reputation of being more financially savvy than most bands.

Fronz pretty consistantly claims to be a millionaire, and while I doubt he actuay has that much in assets, the fact he leases luxury sports cars on the regular speaks well to his financial situation. I think he also said Attila contributes to less than 10% of his income.

A lot of these shows are 18+ (Got lucky, Turning 18 in June) So I wonder how that will effect

Leasing a vehicle is the exact opposite of a financially savvy move

Yeah, totally. I do like Stoopfest this year, as well as some of the bands at Common Ground, but this easily beats both.

I wouldn’t go to nearly as many shows if there were less bands per bill, I can’t believe how many people I always see here complaining about TOO MUCH content at an event lol.

I'm all for big bills, but so many of these lineups seem to be all filler.

    I'd rather see 3 bands I like, than 5 I don't

If it isn’t a festival I literally never want to see more than 3 bands on a bill

I really miss when every show I went to had like 4 or 5 bands and I loved every single one of them. I don’t know if I just listened to more back then or if shows are booked differently now, but either way I loved it.

Typically on 3 band bills there's at least one band that drags on way too long

I like 4 band bills simply because they keep all of the sets more potent

why? that's four bands doing 30 minute sets. or one headliner doing an hour set and two bands doing 30 minute openers.

Most shows I go to I want the headliner themselves playing at least 1:30 to 2. If I like the opener 45 or so for them.
