I wish horror movies didn’t attract such terrible crowds
saw A Quiet Place tonight with one of the worst audiences of all time

I’m sorry that happened to you. With a movie so dependent on silence, it sucks that others can’t respect the movie going experience. I’m in the habit of seeing my movies in theaters at the first showing of the day in the middle of the week purely to avoid as much of an audience as possible. But even then, I’ve still had more problems than not. It’s a bummer

Yeah I enjoyed the movie but would not see it in theaters again. It's just so quiet of a movie you could hear every whisper and heavy breathing and cough and throat clear and someone burped at one point, cell phone beeps, wrappers rustling etc. I'm like can we please pretend like the monsters are here and not make a sound??

I was really hoping they kept that MAGA theme going just to get those people all angry and upset.

It reminded me so much of the old Italian cannibal exploitation films, just raw and ugly while getting stuck in your head for days after.

Gonna whine for a sec but I feel like the term "torture porn" is really overused. Unrelated to anything being said in here tho

Also re a quiet place one glaring thing I noticed was that they let the lil boy who i think was 4 trail behind them. We don't even live in a world with those monsters and I would never just let a 4 year old walk behind me and not be able to see or hear them and I don't think any parent would. The movie played such close attention to detail that just seemed really out of place to me

The favorite term of those critical of the genre. Bugs me too. I do agree that it gets thrown out too often for any movie that is hyper violent.

The sound design in AQP is unreal, like I really dug how every loud sound is startling because of how quiet it was. I kinda think it would be a little better if there was no music but the score was good so I can’t fully complain.

Maybe it was the same sound designer for Phantom Thread

  15. Honestly disappointed that John Krasinski didn't make a single Jim face at the camera during A Quiet Place, but at least the scene where he put the creatures' staplers in jello was on point

in all seriousness, what a great film. Sound design and score were incredible. We were by ourselves in the theater, too, which really added to the experience.

the Jaws movies obviously get progressively worse, but goddamn if I don't sit and watch every single one when there's a marathon on tv haha

3 always creeped me out the most with the thought of a shark breaking through glass windows in underwater exhibits! I went to marine world frequently as a child!

Yeah The Meg looks stupid fun. Cast looks good too.

At least Jaws 4 (The Revenge) produced the greatest actor quote of all-time. MICHAEL CAINE, who is an Oscar winner once said of his role in Jaws: The Revenge (1987) that "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.”
