The Middle was the first JEW song I’d heard (I was in high school) and then Bleed American after that. It wasn’t until my sister’s boyfriend (now my brother in-law) burned a copy of the album for her that I heard it in its entirety. I ended up essentially stealing it from her. I liked it a lot but the first time I heard Cautioners was my “holy shit” moment. Then I read about everyone’s love for Clarity on AP and so I sought that out. Was blown away and felt like I’d both missed out on something previously and also discovered a wonderful secret at the same time. They are the one band I think I have been a fan of the longest. It’s a real gift that they’re still together.

Thinking of Goodbye Sky Harbor today. Anyone here ever read A Prayer for Owen Meany?

When I first finished it as a teenager, I went and listened to the song and how the lyrics clicked, and everything just hit so much harder. I cried with joy.

 

This is eerie! I was thinking about that song yesterday and brought Clarity with me in my car to work today. I have read Owen Meany, I really liked it. The song and book are so great, and I love when music and literature come together like that.

 

I really like Damage. Some very good songs on that one.

I'll try to do a best song list. Tried to pick from every album.

"Sweetness" is, for my money, one of the best pop songs of the past twenty-five years.

 

Also, it will never not be weird to me that "Work" wasn't just as big as "The Middle."

Damage is terrific, Integrity Blues is even better. I love that this band continues to top themselves. Also I can’t wait to see them for the first time next month!
