Richter, the mayor of Chicago, a democrat, covered up the murder of a black teenager. This mayor was also chief of staff in the Obama administration and is supported by Hillary. Similarly, in Baltimore, with a predominantly democratic legislature, the city continues its policing practices. So, what is exactly your point when it comes to these cases? Just a few bad apples? In cases around the country, and in the recent past, democrats have assisted repressive apparatuses or enhanced them to varying degrees. So, tell me again how their interests align with mine. Let's just take a step back from those examples. Let's look at various cosmopolitan cities, where democrats have control. One notices that they are aiding and abetting gentrification, which displaces people of color of working-class backgrounds, as well as white people. This is something that is actively happening. How do you reconcile this with the divisions you see republicans fomenting? To me, it is more a difference of tactics than policy. As was pointed out, Obama has deported hundreds of thousands of people, he simply didn't put up a wall; democrats continue the war on terror that places a target over your head, they simply didn't call for an outright ban.

Ok I am generally just curios on this now, I've never been taught anything around this type of government. How does a democratically run company work. Is everyone paid the same? If not, how do you decide that? What do you do with profits? Or is there even profits? How do you hire a new person? Does everyone in the company meet them and then they vote on who to hire?

This may sound like a compelling, but ultimately utopian fantasy, but there is a rich history—often hidden from view by the work of historians who focus more on heads of state than on the struggles of regular people to shape the world around them—of such counter-institutions springing up again and again as an organic part of workers’ struggles. At the high points of working-class uprisings during the last century and a half—from Paris in 1871, to Russia in 1917 and Germany in 1918, to Hungary in 1956, to Chile in 1973 and Iran in 1979—workers who organized inspiring fights against capitalist exploitation also set up workers’ councils (called by many different names, but in essence fulfilling the same function) to coordinate their efforts. At the same time, these formations gave workers a means of carrying out production under their own control and insuring that the products of their labor were used to feed and sustain their challenge to the status quo rather than supply the defenders of the old order with the resources to defeat the workers’ councils and the vision of a new society they represented.

Workers’ councils at the school, hospital, warehouse, and factory level would be essential to give workers a say in the day-to-day running of their workplaces. Each workplace council would also send elected delegates to coordinate decision-making on an industry-wide and economy-wide basis. Because these delegates would be drawn directly from and accountable to the base, because they would be paid the same as the rest of the workers in that workplace and known by their co-workers, and because they would be recallable if they failed to exercise the will of those who elected them, such councils would give workers the ability to have a real and deciding say in every aspect of society."

It's more about Trump being the presumptive nominee now. As much as I dislike Clinton, she too will probably get a bump in the polls when she becomes the presumptive nominee.

I wish Sanders' campaign had found a way to do more outreach in the southern states. Ugh.

Some form of socialized medicine also works very well pretty much everywhere in the world, too. You don't even need full on socialism to have a working socialized health care system.

lmao yeah nothing to do with insane arbitrary sanctions placed on them by the worlds largest economic power and their neighbor to the north, definitely 100% only the fault of communism and not the fault of the leading light of capitalism

All the socialist countries that are doing well that people talk about have very healthy capitalist markets.
