Lol Jesus. There were seemingly two discs. Blue ray and 4K. It was under the 4K disc. I didn’t realized the stacked them right against each other.

    Some thoughts on deleted scenes.

Alternate intro - definitely glad they cut this. Williams score as you feel like your free fall in through the ships was so much better. Really glad they cut the fathiers down. That was way too long. Bb8 recording was kind of cute but unneeded

Luke crying is hard for me to get over because it was such a great moment to transition back to Carrie, but his commentary over it made me understand. he said they didnt want to do as much intercutting. If they cut back to that scene with Leia then they wouldve had to fit in Rey following around Luke doing his daily routine and the Tree scene in the middle of the entire battle sequence where the Supremacy shows up. That would not have worked. And after that it wouldve been weird to throw it in between the battle and Finn finding Rose.

If you keep that scene where he goes in his hutt and then cut to his daily routine it doesnt make sense that he went back in his hutt for a second only to come out a second later. Id be interested in understanding how the screenplay had it going, but I actually agree with cutting it.

the Rey lesson I think is the only deleted scene I wish they wouldve kept. Rian said in an interview he liked that they started to connect and then Luke feels more betrayed when he sees her with Kylo, but I think that sequence was more important and it wouldve motivated her more to go towards Kylo and the dark side of the island. Also I really like the ethical dilemma of it and Mark kills that scene. Glad we got to see it though.

I can live without most of the deleted scenes, though I do love that Luke/Rey scene. I just really wish they would've used that alternate Phasma ending.

The balance of the force segment is really cool. Feel like it sums up all the major themes quite nicely.

Yeah thats been my favorite special feature so far by far. I love Rian explaining his philosophy on the Force and his motivations for his creative decisions. It really reinforces why it was so much more impactful to do what he did rather than what fans wanted with spectacle and sensational stuff.

So my bday is today. I just found a massage therapist who (through the most painful hour of my life) made me finally believe I can eventually beat what has been a non-stop 4 year-long tension headache that has fucked up my body and my mind and been what I imagine will be the hardest shit Ill ever have to go through.

Now I got the Blu Ray and Im diving into the documentary for one of my favorite movies ever while eating my favorite food ever (my Italian mom's homemade pasta) and feeling the best Ive felt in 4 years since I fucked myself up working out. Best birthday ever.

Since Im feeling so fucking grateful and unabashedly sappy at the moment Ill continue and say thank you for all being awesome SW fans. My friends dont really like it that much so its been awesome to talk to people who love this ridiculous fantastical ridiculous bullshit with space wizards milking aliens and using a mystical power to skype each other as much as me. Everywhere else talking about this movie is a war zone and it bums me out so this thread has been a pleasant bomb shelter from all that. Thanks yall.

Hamill isn’t wrong. Disney doesn’t need to release a Star Wars film every year.

  14. They need to release two.

Watching people complain about a new Star Wars movie every year as a Marvel fan is kinda funny.

Who cares? The novelty wears down with repetition, but if people enjoy living in these fictional worlds more often, more power to them.

After Solo, we're about to go 18 months without new Star Wars. After that, we'll see if it gets tired. There's so much possibility within this universe, so if they try new things and explore different genres and stories, I think it can stay fresh with 1-2 movies a year. It's not held by the same formula constraints as superhero films.

I think they’ll just continue 1 a year (thankfully) and try to push more shows out.

just finished the Director and the Jedi. How the hell are these movies even possible? I cant fathom the organization and planning of something like this. How do ppl have the stamina to do this? So much work goes into stuff that ends up being a 5 second shot or something that gets cut out entirely. I dont usually delve into behind the scenes stuff so this dramatically enhanced my respect for the art of film making and all the people behind it, both artistically and from a production sense.

Such a great doc. And a few tears during the Carrie/Mark part. When its stripped down with no music and no cuts or anything its almost even more beautiful.

Yeah, I remember watching the BTS for an X-Men film and the crew worked all night and morning for a minute long scene that took over 5 hours to record.

The segment where they were going over the production schedule on the giant whiteboard was beginning to give me anxiety just watching them live it lol

And there’s so many layers involved/ so many teams of people and time constraints and how much money everything costs. I always wondered why Ram Bergman was kind of with Rian Johnson all the time and like in the press tour stuff. Now I know why. I do not envy that dudes job. He said somewhere in there like so much is planned in advanced. If something goes wrong. if somebodys sick. Theres like nothing you could do.
