I feel like I’ve betrayed my MoviePass because I’m going to see Ready Player One tonight in 3D so I had to actually pay for a movie ticket.

I feel like every Marvel movie has been 2 and a half hours forever, or at least 2 hours, I'd expect Ready Player One to be the same length
I agree it's probably too long but I expect it at this point

Until movie pass, I’d get mad if movies weren’t around 2 hours. Felt like I never got my money’s worth otherwise

I didn't think Ready Player One felt too long at 2h20m. Honestly, I wish it was longer so they could've incorporated more from the book.

Ready Player One was solid, but like Love, Simon was soooo goood.

I would take a fantastic 90 minutes movie over a 120+ slog anyday

Yea, it handled its length well.

Yeah if a movie I'm watching at home is longer than 2 hours there's a good chance I'm not gonna finish it in one sitting. I intentionally avoid longer movies

    Regular

Well, if she figures it out, let me know! I have tried calling and every time they are either not open (but don't give the hours of operation) or say they're too busy and disconnects. I tried to email and got a dumb response of "here's how to sign up for a new subscription" which isn't what I asked. It's a mess!

Does the movie pass card act like a regular credit card when doin transactions at theatres? Also, if there is an automated machine to buy tickets from, can it be used there?

Yes and yes. When you check into a movie on the app, the ticket price amount is automatically added to your MoviePass card, so when you go to purchase your ticket at the kiosk or ticket seller, you just use that card as your payment option.

Oh that’s interesting. So it is sort of pre-loaded and confirms the charge at the time of purchase. I’ve never understood how it works, thanks. Pretty sure I’m gonna subscribe seeing as how they’re having a discount for new subscribers.

Yeah sort of. I was confused by it at first. But you can check your transaction history online which makes it a little clearer.

In the image, you can see that I checked in to the movie on the app so the amount was loaded onto my card. Then I used it to purchase my ticket, which was less than what was added to my card. Then whatever unused balance is taken off your card. Screen Shot 2018-03-29 at 12.59.20 PM.png

That is weird. Does it overcharge the card to account for fluctuating ticket prices, like a worst case scenario type of thing?

I'm not 100% sure on why it does that. Every transaction I've done they load more than the actual ticket price onto the card. I would guess it's to account for varying ticket prices/tax and stuff.

Ok cool, well thanks for the info! I think my confusion over process has made it harder to want to commit to the service.

No problem! I'd say it's definitely worth the investment. Even if you go to 1 or 2 movies per month, you'd be saving money.

To the people trying to reach customer service:

FROM THIS DUDE ON REDDIT THAT APPARENTLY KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT MOVIEPASS...

When you call the number on the back of the card, 1-877-646-2892, you will experience 1 of 4 scenarios.
    1. You are connected directly to an agent.
    2. You are told that the call volume is high and given the option of a callback.
      • Accept the option of callback. You will typically receive a callback within 15-20 minutes.
    3. You are told to open a ticket online due to high call volume and disconnected.
      • Continue to call in until scenario 1 or 2 is received.
    4. You are told you have called outside of business hours and disconnected.
      • Call back during business hours.

When I've tried I got the high volume message every time but there's no callback option. Hopefully they've changed that
