Yeah I'm assuming they'll be selling the album at the instores so we should hear it tomorrow night possibly.

hello wonder years thread. I thought last night that hearing two songs in advance of the album release was enough, and then I thought, well shit, I'm seeing this band on April 18th; relatively speaking I'm more hyped for this gig than the album it's promoting (which is weird but I'm not gonna question it), so should I wait until after the gig to listen to the album and have most of the new material at the gig be new to me? better experience or nah?

 

I think it'd be cooler to be familiar with what you are about to hear live, but maybe that's just me.

 

Personally knowing the songs for me is always a better experience especially if the whole audience will know them

I generally don’t like hearing new songs for the first time in a live setting, so I’d definitely listen to the album first.

 

Normally what happens if I listen to a record the songs are almost always way better live and then I appreciate the recordings more

 

I pre-ordered the vinyl today. That means a lot coming from me, I’ve literally only PRE-ordered two records before.

 

I totally agree with this! I had a hard time really getting into songs like "I Wanted So Badly..." off of No Closer to Heaven until I saw a lot of the deeper cuts off that album on their spring tour in 2016.

 

It would be nice if it didn't leak at all so this amazing band who gave fans a very short rollout cycle and didn't make them wait months could release their album on their terms!

 

Yeah, posting about hoping for a leak in a thread where band members have visited is a weird look

 

hoping for leaks ever is weird. downloading something that's out there is fine, but wishing for it to leak? bad look

 

Yeah I'm gonna agree, we should never hope for leaks. Hope for shorter rollouts/surprise album drops instead.

 

Can we hope for a new song tomorrow?

 

Album's only a week away, even if they did release one I'll wait

 

I, for one, am going to hope that someone quickly invents an inexpensive way to put myself into hibernation until next Thursday night.

 

Still can't believe we never got a high quality rip of We Look Like Lightning. Or maybe someone did and I'm not as hellbent on finding leaks like I used to be, haha.

 

i wouldn't say "high" quality but there was a good enough one
