this may be the complete wrong thread to ask but is anyone or anyone anyone knows interested in YFW repress, deja repress, TDAG original academy fight song on white, and daisy on vinyl? I don't cast judgement on people buying from a third party as it's not putting money in the bands hand. Probably a long shot here but you never know. Drop a message if you know someone interested in all or any

Id rather not sell it to people who actively support them but people who would rather buy from a third party so as not to give the band support. People who support the band would buy from me just for convenience which I wouldn't be okay with

Yeah but depending which they want or all I would bump the price down if they could cover shipping

Asking price is 20 for the non TDAG record each, 100 for TDAG, 130 for all

i mean, i can't imagine someone who at the very least actually cares about this buying their records at this point

if it makes it easier to not have to worry about things just put it up on discogs and let someone random purchase it with less personal connection

I still love Science Fiction. I still think it’s the best possible record they could’ve released after so much time. But my god, it is IMPOSSIBLE to listen to it on its own terms now. Every time I find myself thinking how good it is, it’s counteracted by disgust, and I haven’t been able to listen to the entire recor in months because of it.

Honestly your best bet if you don't want to actively sell to a Jesse apologist is a half price books or something. Thats where I took mine and I took a huge monetary hit. $55 for the entire discography; Mene, 3 demos reworked, I am nightmare, and all the albums. It made me hate the band even more. But I wanted them gone.

I'm in the process of moving and keep finding merch as I go through closets and drawers. Every single shirt and sweater brings back how disgusted and mad I felt when the news broke.

Yeah I sold all my BN merch at a huge loss to a local record store too cause I could not be bothered to care about those records enough anymore to sell them in any sort of meaningful way

Yep, same as above. Sold mine to my local record shop for a pretty low price, but like everyone else just wanted them gone. Shopped them around on eBay, Letgo, and Facebook and no one was interested.

The owner of the shop asked why I was getting rid of them. Told him it was because of everything that’d come out and he was really cool about it. Said he understood and that I had a nice collection and we left it at that.

I threw out my Brand New CDs the day everything came out and haven't listened to them since. Never had any desire to either. It's all tarnished, irrevocably. Not trying to judge anyone but for me personally I honestly can't fathom how anyone can listen to them at all anymore.

    Hey, all.

I'm struggling with all of this. I'm not struggling in the "defend Jesse" way. I'm struggling with this in the "I want to understand it all" way. There are just so many things I don't get about all of the people and things surrounding this stuff.

A little backstory about my relationship with BN if you care (separated by some dashed lines if you want to skip it):

    –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

I instantly wrote BN off the day this stuff came out. I was done. Just like I've done, unfortunately, with too many bands I dug.

I wasn't a long time fan as many of you are. I really only started listening 2013 at the earliest. I had heard a few things from YFW when it came out - I didn't like it. Then I gave Daisy a try and it landed hard on the second spin.

So, I'm a relatively new fan. But that just means I was fairly obsessed. I feel like I missed really digging into and loving this music before all the shit came out. It reminds me a lot of the feeling I had when comedian Harris Wittels died. I didn't REALLY know the guy and loved some of the things he had done. I later found out how much of his stuff I had really enjoyed. I mourned a little the loss of an experience I wasn't aware of enough to participate in. With Harris, though, we have all of his work to look back at. The BN stuff feels taken from me. Something I'm entirely willing to hand over.

    –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Anyway...I'm a bit haunted by it all so I thought I'd come to you cats. I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on a few things:

Kevin Devine always seemed like a person who wouldn't be associated with this sort of thing. Apparently EVERYONE active in that music scened knew, though. Did he not know or do we think he just didn't care? How could he not know? As some of the peripheral-to-BN people's accounts stated - everyone knew and everyone has known for a long time. How does everyone feel about his involvement in BN and his seemingly long term friendship with them? Why didn't he do something? Why didn't the rest of the guys in the band do something?

What about Jesse's wife? She had to have known, right? If EVERYONE knew, then wouldn't she? Is she still with him?

I'm just so curious about all of it.

I'm not interested in judging what people are or aren't doing. I'm just trying to understand all of these things. I can't imagine having to be a person making those decisions - the people in the band/crew/friends/family - so I'm hoping everyone here can lend me a little of their understanding.

Anyone have some thoughts or insights they'd like to share? If this stuff has been talked to death in this thread, I'd gladly take a link to those posts. I'm not typically a "spend lots of time on the forum" sort of person. Hell, I think this is my 5th post here and I've been signed up for a month - I missed the entirety of 839 pages of discussion. I'm just curious about how everyone else is living with and answering these questions for themselves.

Thanks for letting me be vulnerable about my lack of understanding in this particular super fucked situation.

We'll probably never know the behind the scene facts to your first question, but unfortunately I'd have a heard time believing that guys like Kevin Devine or even Andy Hull (two artists who constantly toured with Brand New and/or Jesse) wouldn't at least have had an inkling about Jesse's actions. Who knows? Maybe they heard rumors and confronted Jesse about it and he denied them. We'll probably never know. Hell, when the Front Bottoms announced they were opening for Brand New in 2016, the same exact girl posted the same story on their Facebook page in the comments section, so I'd have to guess someone in TFB camp would have had to have had some inking too.

Obviously, guys like Brian Diaz, Anthony Raneri and John Nolan, who don't even tour with Jesse all came out and made similar comments about 'this was a long time coming' or others who said it was a worst kept secret.

I think the consensus on this site is that all his band members knew but just chose not to do anything. I could be wrong.

As for his wife, I follow her on Instagram (not because she's Jesse's wife, but I think her line of work is cool and she posts a lot about it) and it seems they are definitely still together. Jesse is in a few of her photos since the whole thing happened and around the new year she posted something about the year finally being over and that her 'personal challenges were broadcasted publicly' so I'm sure she knew about some stuff, maybe not the whole details.

Aside from the victims, I feel mostly awful for their daughter who will some day have to read and hear about who her father was. Just awful.

It was Brian's Facebook post that brought all of this to light. His status said: 'While we're outing sexual predators, anyone want to say anything about Jesse Lacey of Brand New.' I'm sure he made that status knowing full well that it was true and not just taking a shot in the dark.

John and Anthony were both asked about it on Twitter the day of or day after and both had similar responses about it being a long time coming.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Brian is literally the guy who opened the entire can of worms.

Anthony had a lot to say about it on Twitter, like 20-30 tweets about it. Someone asked him if he had evidence or stories to share about Jesse.
